Q*bert by Parker Brothers with Original Box Rarity

I bought one for $9.99 last week from the same guy as no one bid on it and noticed this one is up for sale and its already over $20 with over 3 days still to go. Both carts are exactly the same with manual and box. I figured I got a deal but was just curious as I dont see them come up that often especially with the box and manual.

I have seen a few examples of Popeye, Frogger and Q*Bert coming up on Ebay, they are not mega hard to obtain but the good thing about Parker Brothers boxes is that they were built to last, they are very similar to their Atari VCS and 8 Bit counterparts on that score.

The Parker Brothers boxes are uncommon, but not rare (about the same as any Atarisoft box). There were a LOT of places selling these BITD--as many as had the regular TI-issue stuff. The box for Miner 2049er is rare, but barely so (it was in a lot of places too), and the box for Espial is very rare, as it came on the market a little too late to get a lot of store distribution.

I do not get hung up too much on boxes and such... Sealed boxes are super cool, but I would rather have my carts on display, easy to grab and plug in. I love my cartridges, my meager collection. I am proud to display them and smile when I look at them.

I have a Popeye, but the label is half missing. I look.forward to the day ehen I have complete ROMOX, PB, and Atari sets to look at and play from time to time.

I have been following this auction and one of his that just sold and was curious as to the Rarity of this Cartridge with the Original Box.

I love this game, and play it regularly. I never get past level 3 round 1.

I picked up Popeye boxed for $10, but when it arrived it was missing the manual (anyone got a GOOD pdf *? Those that I've found are sub-standard quality), Frogger for $29 complete (box/manual), and Q*Bert complete (box/manual) for $49 (because I REALLY wanted to complete the set, otherwise I would have waited for a cheaper one).

All those prices are Canadian Dollars, so reduce by about 20% for US $'s

Parker Brothers is a great "first collection", since the boxes are always in good shape, the collection is so small that it is fairly quick to get them all, and although these are some of the best ports available on the 4A, they are ususally fairly reasonably priced. The shape of the cartridges mean that a bit of Letraset tape is unusally req'd to re-stick the labels, but otherwise these "Sets" are usually in much better condition than others (aside from the recent finds of Ti and Atarisoft full case lots).

Just wish they would have released Tutankhamun...love that game and in keeping with Parker Bros' fine quality ports, it probably would have been a great version.
