Wow, Crazy Balloon is great! Very addictive. I just rattled off 10 games, but have to get back to work.

Highly recommend this game. I need more practice, but he's my best score so far...

Don't forget to post a review for the store after you got deeper into it. We developers like feedback from out games being played. :)

It's tough to knock a homebrew since you don't want to hurt any feelings, lol. We had this discussion years ago (somewhere here on the forums) and a few people did admit they generally score a "bad" homebrew higher than a bad commercially released game.

I don't particularly like writing negative reviews, since I don't want to discourage anyone from writing more games.

That said, it doesn't really help anyone to write a better review than a particular game deserves. It doesn't let the programmers know how they could improve their next game, and doesn't inform buyers of potential problems. And anyway, it's all just someone's opinion. The best thing you can do (with the vast majority of the games in the AA store), is download and play them in an emulator. If you like 'em, buy 'em. At the very least, check out videos of the games.

I gave Reindeer rescue a 3 out of 5 stars but I think I didn't play it enough before I reviewed it and would actually change that score to a 4 now. I remember when I got it, I also got a few stellar homebrews (A-VCS-tec challenge was one of them and that game is a 5 all the way) so I think I was a little hard on it.

Albert will let you update your review and change your score, I'm sure. ;)

One of the reviews from Stay Frosty 2 is negative because the player couldn't get past the first level. Someone had the same issue here and it turned out their video projector had a severe lag issue. I always wondered if the reviewer ever saw that...

There was another homebrew, the name escapes me right now but I remember the only review it had only got 2 out of 5 stars. Now, a big part of what real had an impact on me is the guy who did the cartridge/manual art gave it that review! If somebody that was a part of the game being released scored it that low, well, that was enough for me to hear, lol.

Yeah... that would have been my review. I turn down working on games now that I'm not really into. I've done it a few times, and it just feels really disingenuous. Plus, it's just not as much fun as working on something really cool. Like... Scramble. :D

My trouble is that I have trouble finding bad home brew games.

Seaweed Assault has been stuck on page 8 for a long time:

atariage.com/store/index.php?pg=8&m=&c=24&l=product_list&sortby=num_sold:desc

Can Seaweed Assault make it to page 7? What will happen if aliens attack before the cartridges arrive in the mail? Now that Seaweed Assault has given 20 people heart attacks, will it become an instant collector's Item? Will Seaweed Assault be used by the military to torture terrorists or will Congress attempt to restrain them? These questions and many others will be answered on the next episode of . . . SOAP.
