The Eidolon
Went to California Extreme just over a week ago, where they had hundreds of classic arcade cabinets on free play. If you had a wide variety of games available to play once a year, but limited time, what would you seek out? For me, it would be games which would offer an experience which can't be easily replicated on an emulator or with a home collection. That would include: Games with unusual control schemes. Vector games. Laserdisc games. Multiplayer competitive games. Light gun games. Pinball. Plus a few others just for nostalgia. Some of the cabinets I got to try this year: Laserdiscs: Super Don Quixote Dragon's Lair Space Ace Vector: Tempest Major Havoc I Robot Star Wars (Cockpit) The Empire Strikes Back Black Widow Quantum Spinners, Dual Sticks, Trackball or other unusual controls: Forgotten Worlds Tron Assault Point Blank 2 Arkanoid Robotron Reactor Definitely a convention worth checking out if you're in California in July. VectorGamer
I'm going to the ReplayFX expo this weekend. I'm not going to waste time playing games like DK and Pac-Man cuz I can play them at home. So my time will be spent playing pinball and games that I can't play at home.
Opry99er
Time Traveler... Miss that game, and cannot find it anywhere. Also, I cannot replicate cockpit Missile Command or cockpit Star Wars. Memories......
toiletunes
Front Line, Tron, Baby Pac Man, Assault, Demolition Derby, Hang On, and Pinball games galore.
+Tarzilla
Games with unique control mechanisms Discs of Tron Wild Western Strategy X
ataridave
Number one for me would be Solvalou, a game from the Xevious family of games: http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9618 It came out on the Wii Virtual Console, but only in Japan. Along that same line, I would also love to play Konami's Solar Assault, which a 3D third-person version of Gradius: www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9618 Other then those two, definitely Asteroids. I've played plenty of home ports of Asteroids, but never the arcade original in vector graphics.
ProperRogue
I'm thinking Paperboy, with the real harware, and not some screwy configuration using MAME or a console. And, just for the sake of nostalgia, I'd love to play a game of Fire Truck.
racerx
Between my own collection, those of my friends, and local places like Galloping Ghost, there really isn't much out there that I'm interested in but not available. I would love a Solvalou to put next to my Xevious, though. I passed on the only one I've seen for sale, as I really don't have the room for a cockpit like that. I've always kind of regretted it anyway.
Syzygy1
I had the chance to play Rolling Thunder at the ice rink today. Awesome. Although there was no sound. I would LOVE to play an I-Robot or Quantum. And then there's Space Fury and Reactor.

racerx
Some of the cabinets I got to try this year: Vector: I Robot FWIW, I, Robot's not a vector game. It's one of the first (if not THE first) polygonal arcade games, though.
The Eidolon
FWIW, I, Robot's not a vector game. It's one of the first (if not THE first) polygonal arcade games, though. You're right! I'm not sure what I was thinking. I guess all those low-rez polygons reminded me of vector graphics.
+FujiSkunk
I second Paperboy. It's been a long time since I got to play with a set of handlebars. Fortunately the annual Houston Area Arcade Group Expo lets me get my fix for most of my arcade and pinball favorites every year. If I didn't have that, I'd probably be pining for, say, Star Wars, Spy Hunter, Marble Madness, Space Lords... just about anything with unusual controllers. Actually I'm still pining for Space Lords, since that one has yet to make an appearance at the HAAG Expo.
Armonigann
Paperboy, Arkanoid, Hogans Alley, Ikari Warriors, Ninja Gaiden, Cross Bow, Blaster (sit down) Buck Rogers, I could go on forever....
Syzygy1
It's been a year and I STILL have never played Space Fury. I agree with Armonigann about Ninja Gaiden. I really want to play that on a real cab sometime. I played it on a multi cab at Go Play in Belmar, NJ, though...
NE146
oh Space Invaders and Asteroids for sure. Their looks can't be duplicated for different reasons (Asteroids for the glowing shots, and SI for the hologram effects & cardboard artwork). Also yes, Major Havoc, Defender, Star Wars (vector) need the original control schemes.

+save2600
Guess the environmental cabinet version of Discs of Tron would be one, just for the experience (have played the regular UR). The Midway EM rifle shooting gallery game Haunted House would be one I'd have a few rounds of today if I saw it or had a chance to purchase. Joust cocktail pin I'd play and probably purchase for the right deal. I did recently visit a pizza joint that had a classic arcade in it and blew a few bucks playing games like Defender, Q*Bert, Firepower II pinball and another pinball machine I'm forgetting the name of now. Room was dark and the pinball games had those blasted LED's all throughout the machines. Under the inserts *maybe*, but an absolute horrible way to "illuminate" a playfield as you can't really see the graphics/artwork and to make matters worse, the ball has a flickery strobe-light effect to it. blech! Oh - thought of another game or two I'd like to check out again... last time I saw an Atari Video Pinball (Pinball at the Zoo), machine was broken and an Atari Superman pinball machine. I'm certain the pin would be broken too, but have been kinda/sorta passively looking to purchase these machines for a while.
simbalion
I would have to say... Computer Space. I've already experienced several games that I've wanted to, but never Computer Space, the first ever coin-op video game. I've gotten to look at two, but there was nowhere to plug them in as they were in a storage unit.

Of course if you make the trip and it's not working there are hundreds of other games to play.
Dauber
After playing it in MAME, I'd love to try Firefox. And, of course, the elusive Tinkle Pit. I'd like to at least see Satan's Hollow in a proper cab; I've only played it in MAME and on a cabaret cab. And Omega Race. I've never played that game in my life (not even in MAME), any version of it. Galloping Ghost has Omega Race, but every time I've been there it's been not working.

I saw on Facebook that they added a few more b/w games.
