+MacRorie
Hello, Motor Psycho is one of my favorite 7800 games ever. I think it maybe the jumping, not really sure. Anyway, one of the reasons I bought a 7800 (again) was to play Motor Psycho. The only copy I could find was PAL, but I figured "Hey, install that OS & AV upgrade you have always wanted to do and you should be good to go!" Umm, no. So, I have installed both upgrades. Both work great. But not Motor Psycho. AM I missing something? It should work, right? Any suggestions would be appreciated. -M
ave1
I am a fan of the game as well... it's too bad it's pretty hard to find. So do you get a rolling vertical hold-problem on the screen or just nothing at all? You could always try an emulator with a 7800 controller connected to a Blissbox... there's an Android emulator thread in this forum you could read thru to accomplish the task
+Mitch
PAL 7800 games generally do not work well on NTSC 7800s even with the lockout bypassed. Mitch

Mitch hmm, except this is from Best Electronics web page: This Atari Euro 7800 upgrade chip will also allow you to play more of the Atari 7800 PAL Games that will not normally / properly run on the NTSC / US version Atari 7800 consoles. +Mitch
Normally none of the PAL 7800 games will work on an NTSC 7800 due to the lockout. If you change out the BIOS it won't be blocked anymore but you will still have the NTSC vs PAL problem. That means display issues, on some games it's somewhat minor, other games it is very severe. +MacRorie
Answer from Best Electronics Q. The main reason I did the upgrade was to be able to play the PAL copy of Motor Psycho I have. Unfortunately, it does not seem to work even after the upgrade. Any thoughts on the issue? A. Yes, a percentage of the Atari 7800 PAL games will run on the US 7800 with the EURO OS upgrade and some will not. Our 31+ year Atari Super tech, says most likely this happens on some Atari 7800 PAL games, is true Euro version 7800 consoles use a PAL version of the Atari 7800 custom Maria Video chip. Some game code in the Motor Psycho PAL game looks for the PAL version 7800 Maria chip Marlin. RegardsBradley Koda
