Problems with Collectorvision cartridges?

Hi All,

Does all of you tested the last collectorvision cartridges you bought?

I ask that because some of my friends got some cartridges recently and we tested them in a gaming session last week end , and it does not work.

We had problem with Nibbly and Bagman the games won't start. The cartridge is not detected.

Looking at the cartridges we have seen that on a track on the right of the connector the contact zone seems cut in two part.

Not sure it the source of the problem , but on all other cartridges that works it is not the case.

I suspect a set a PCB used by collectorvision has this problem.

I did not test yet my own version of bagman , but it seems the track on the PCB has the same issue.. :( As soon as, i will have access to my console i will test.

But i strongly recommend to test your games. Don't do just like me , put them on shelve waiting to have time to test...

My friends will contact collectorvision , i'm sure they will find a solution for them.

There are one or two connectors that are split in half... one half goes to a logic chip, and the other half goes to the EPROM. This allows for easy programming (otherwise the logic chip interferes with the EPROM during programming). It should work well, if the contacts on the console are in good shape. When in the console, the two halves of the connector become connected, and life is good. If there's a problem with the console connector, then this could happen. In the next revision of the PCB, I'll add a jumper that can be soldered after programming to make sure the games work the same as any old ColecoVision game.

Are they using a PAL ColecoVision console to play the games?

Not PAL, we uses SECAM colecovision with Scart cable in France. But i don't think it is related to that, because Nibbly and Bagman have been developped by Frenchies... and their cartridge works as far i know.

Interresting, it explains the split we see. :). I don't know if it is an issue with the console connector (unfortunaly we had only one colecovision available)... but the problem occured only with Nibbly and Bagman all others games worked well on the same console.
