sidney
I have recently got even more into all things Atari having recently purchased an Atari 7800 which I am really enjoying. I also recently came by a batch of 2600 classics for a very reasonable sum but having the European joypads on the 7800 got me wondering whether they are compatible with the 2600 should I choose to run the carts on the original system. I don't want to damage the machine at all, so I thought I could get some quality advice from those that know!
tiendaatari
No problem; ATARI 2600 Jr (rev D) had CX78 joypad
Nutsy Doodleheimer
Yes sir! I prefer the Sega Genesis controllers if I want to use a game pad. I'm not a huge fan of the 7800 European controllers.
sidney
Thanks for the speedy response guys, much appreciated. Is it possible to use Megadrive pads with the 7800 and maintain two button functionality then? Edited September 24, 2015 by sidney
fiddlepaddle
Thanks for the speedy response guys, much appreciated. Is it possible to use Megadrive pads with the 7800 and maintain two button functionality then? No, but they can be modified to work (simple, but not trivial). If you go to the 7800 forum and do a search for the Seagull78 adapter, you'll find just what you're looking for
