I bought 2 of these things a couple years ago, and I've never even tried them. A friend from high school (who used to have an Apple II) expressed interest, so I bought one for him too (to be reimbursed, of course, and because they were always selling out) and one for me. Then he lost interest. Of course. Well, the Apple IIe I ordered from Ebay wouldn't even boot up on its own. As a result, I've never even tried either one of the two I own. As a matter of fact, I know almost nothing about them, other than people love 'em. I've never even opened the anti-static bags. I'm keeping one to eventually try myself, if I ever get a working Apple II or can get mine fixed. These sell new for $150. They're currently not available (they always sell out). There should be another run selling by the end of the year.
