bradd1978
SOLD Hey guys, I've been mulling about this one for a bit but I'm looking to sell/trade an NES portable system I built about 2 years ago. This was hand built by me using an NES front loader motherboard and controller. The screen is a 3.5" LCD screen readily available on Ebay and a couple small speakers from an electronic device I can't even remember now :-) The case was built from 1/8" acrylic plastic used on sports trophies, as well as, aluminum stripping for the frame which is now covered with black vinyl. The portable measures 8" x 5.5" x 1 1/8" and weighs just under a pound approx. There is a bit of a story behind this: I started tinkering with electronics around 2007 and was fascinated with the work of Ben Heck and his portable video game systems. Basically I was in way over my head and the project was a complete disaster. Fast forward to 2013, the failed portable project had always bothered me and I wanted to built one - more so just to complete it and be at peace with the whole thing :-P So after a month of planning and a couple months on and off working on it I completed what you now see. The hardest part of the whole thing was building the case. This was done all by hand, the cutting, measuring and creating precise screw holes and posts. Cosmetically, the system has its flaws but overall i'd give it a solid 7/10. I show in the photos where some things aren't quite square of there may be a bit of overhang but, I tell you, by hand this is a tough thing to do. The system runs off a 9 Volt DC power plug, NOT BATTERIES, so its a "sort-of" portable I guess. The cartridge plugs into the back, as expected, and the on/off switch is located on the top. The bottom has a headphone jack and the DC power socket. On the front is the controller buttons, below those are the volume adjustment wheel. I tried getting this on the side but had some issues that made it near impossible to do. So, since building this, its been played a bit but has mainly been tucked away for the past 2 years untouched. At this point, I'd rather see it being enjoyed by someone who will really appreciate it. I had my fun building it and putting it together. The challenge was great but after completion it kinda lost its luster with me I guess and I was became busy with other projects. I put alot of time into this but I know i can't ask a huge price tag for it, especially it being hand made and has a few flaws here and there. I'm not really sure what to ask on this, so please PM me if your interested and we can talk. I'd definitely consider trades as well, I'm always collecting for Intellivision, Colecovision, Atari 5200, NES, Sega Master System.... Thanks guys Edited October 10, 2015 by bradd1978
Jaymiester
Awesome work Brad! Wish I had the skills to make stuff like this. Only thing I'm this good at is picking up Women I'm not a big Nintendo guy, so I'll pass on this....but if you decide to do a ColecoVision version, I'd be all over it. 7800fan
Very nice! Although I would find a way to cover the back of the cart slot to prevent wires from getting snagged somehow. \

bradd1978
Bradd ... freaking awesome stuff as usual. How can I get you to do this with the Intellivision? Haha. Thanks Don :-) The Intellivision as a portable would be a very tall order considering its unique controller and power supplies. Maybe one day..
