Just posted a new video of Xevious to youtube from the latest build :)

Wow - that is looking great! I better start putting some pennies aside now...

Question: I understand wanting to preserve the portrait layout of the original arcade release, but will the side borders be left solid black?

Or will there be some sort of artwork placed along the sides, similar to Raiden?

Not specifically referring to Xevious here, but something that would make portrait style shoot em ups unique to the Jag would be geting someone like William Thorup to do framing artwork related to the game to use as borders, if he had the time to do so. That'd be pretty cools hehe Either way, still psyched to get this one, it played great at PRGE.

Regarding the final game, I was wondering how much ROM space is taken up? Not that I don't love the authenticity of what's been created, but if there's even a tiny chance that modern music remixes could be added it would be *amazing*.

Exhibit A (which I'm playing while DJing at a nerdy music night on the weekend...I love it):

Exhibit B:

To be honest I find the original bleeps a bit grating these days, although I don't notice it as much when I'm playing. Hopefully there's the ability to adjust the volume of SFX and music, or mute music with 0.

But that first tune....mmmmmm :)

Now that I think about it, I probably like the second one better :D but there are heaps of other remixes out there. I even found a jazzy one, although I prefer the straight up 4/4 dance/house/techno versions.

I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to contact the creators of most of these remixes...

Yeah, they're both awesome. The first one is shorter and more driving throughout (which is why I'm including it in my DJ set on the weekend with about 40 tracks mashed up in 90 minutes :) ), but the second one has a bit more variety.

I might actually do a live mashup of both on Saturday just to see how it flows ;)
