sixtyeightmk2
Hello! I've setup my Falcon to have an SD card to IDE converter, and an HxC Disk emulator - I can run programs fine from the disk emulator, but as soon as I attempt to copy to the hard drive I get weird corruption issue messages. Does this mean my ide controller might be fried or could there be a simpler explanation? Thanks! Any ideas on how to troubleshoot would be excellent. --Bob
Iwantgames:)
Idk much about Falcon, but I know my HxC on my TI-99/4a I have to change the file format of my disks so the HxC can use them so copying them to a Hard Drive or other device wouldn't work due to being in HxC format and not original system format
sixtyeightmk2
Ah so perhaps Atari Format instead of Fat ... I'll try that next thank you!
ParanoidLittleMan
It rather seems as bad work of IDE port - it may be affected by HxC on shared IRQ line. You can not change format of disks to some "Atari Format" instead FAT. It's FAT always. You should perform some write tests with and without HxC card . sixtyeightmk2
Yeah there were write failures on the original drive too - but I am in very short supply of media... Is there a procedure for replacing the IDE controller chip?

Is there a procedure for replacing the IDE controller chip? IDE controller by Falcon is integrated in Combel chip. Replacing it probably will not solve problem. It's just that timings are not good for newer drives. Simpler, and cheaper would be to go on CF card instead classic hard disk. Sandisk cards are good for Falcon, and you can get some 4-8 GB one for 12-18 Euros.. What has additional benefits like less load of PSU in Falcon, easy data transfer with some PC ..
