yes :)

so am I

Yeah, I hoping this thread will become a real asset to people.

When someone posts an image, they could also post any special instructions needed, because it appears some images require more than a simple straight-forward burn. The easier it looks, the more people who'll buy burners. Before Gazoo past away he highly recommended the MiniPRO, "Because it just works". A few others mentioned the MiniPRO as well and the with the lower price, it's a great deal. So it's possible we could all 'get on the same page'.

I really liked that PDF Gazoo did of programming the ATMEGA1284P, the photos were a great idea. I'm thinking something like that could come in handy here too.

If you want to do it off-site, that's cool. I kind of liked Ksarul's idea of a sticky thread here because Google references Atari Age quite a bit and that would eventually steer more people our way. Also as new people show up, having this as an option in a sticky would grab interest. Just my thoughts...

So, I know I've threatened this before, but there is a fantastic Downloads module for the forum that I have purchased and haven't installed here yet. It's pretty sophisticated, and even allows for keeping multiple versions of files. And it's by Invision, so it's properly integrated into the forum. I really need to get off my ass and enable it--just need to come up with a proper hierarchical structure, which is a bit complex as there is so much homebrew/hack development for many systems, plus files not associated with development. I need to start another thread to get some feedback on a possible structure. But certainly I will add a TI-99/4a section.

In the meantime, a thread that someone can maintain of this nature would be useful, and once the Downloads section is online, everything can be transferred to that.

Here are my images. All are for inverted (379) boards except the hat demo. All have headers in all banks except the Atarisoft cartridge where it has to start up in the last back in order to choose all games. To burn an smaller image to a larger ROM you have to duplicate the image until you reach the required size.

No big deal here... just one-offs, but this is my entire selection of Funware cartridges.

Of these, Henhouse is my favorite... It is frantic and challenging... plus, as the farmer, you get to exercise your 2nd amendment rights against birds, foxes, and egg robbers. ;)

In that case, I would imagine a date would be unnecesary. I do not know of any homebrews that exist on a compilation, currently? Maybe I missed one...

Ahhh, the Rasmus 3-in-1.

Maybe that could be listed as 2014 or so... That is an edge case, I think.

... for inverted (379) boards...

Rasmus, I have a NEWBIE question for you... how do I 'un-invert' an image? I was able to program the chip and it verified... but naturally it will not work with my cartridge in the 'inverted format'. Is there a tutorial anywhere?

BTW Ksarul... thanks for your advice. I took my Dremel drill press and put a fine sandpaper barrel on it and turned it down as low as low as it would go... one of the chips I was having problems with programmed just fine. I can't wait for my FLAP ZIF socket to arrive!

Since inverting and un-inverting the exact same process you can use the same tool:

As arguably one of the more popular carts, shouldn't we get XB27's final image in this thread?

Anyway, some of the ones I worked on:

BankTest

post-12959-0-95031700-1445085702_thumb.jpg

banktest.zip

Burn the appropriate image to your cart (inverted or not as appropriate) and it will test your bank selector as well as show you which was the startup bank.

Editor/Assembler Complete

post-12959-0-04405300-1445085933_thumb.jpg

EditorAssembler.zip

GROM code (to be programmed into UberGROM or similar). Has Editor and Assembler files built in (although there are arguably better solutions now). Includes the needed files to load with GRMCFG.

Hyper Racer

post-12959-0-67107300-1445086982_thumb.jpg

HyperRacer Crap Entry.zip

My entry into the Crap Games contest a few years back - TI BASIC but loaded from a 379-style (inverted) 16k ROM. Although I don't know that I'd waste a ROM on it. ;)

Zombie MOTIF

post-12959-0-81071900-1445087224_thumb.jpg

ZombMotif.zip

From the Short and Sweet XB contest, I did this mashup of Codex's TI Farmer and my own ZomBXB to create an 8k ROM that contained each game as well as an overarching version that combined them. No bank switching needed!

TI Workshop

post-12959-0-15629400-1445087469_thumb.jpg

tiworkshop379.zip

With Jon's help I adapted the TI Workshop module from SuperSpace to 379 (inverted) style bank switching, this is a 64k cart with a few utilities.

I agree! I made a category for it under the, "Multi Chip/Multi Burn" heading, but I believe that entry may need more than someone just uploading a couple of images. I know some people have had trouble programming the Atmel1284P's, so that entry may need a full-fledged tutorial on how to do it correctly. I for one have no clue whatsoever. :???:

Hopefully one of the Guru's here will have some free time in the near future to help us all out on this one.

BTW Tursi, I love the inclusion of the graphics in your post. That's a great idea and a big help.

Well, the intent is that you don't buy a blank AVR unless you know how to program it. The intent is you buy an UberGROM which has the firmware loaded on it and then you use GRMCFG to load the software right from your TI. Distributions for the UberGROM shouldn't really be including the AVR firmware, that's my software and isn't intended for distribution that way. My hope is they will just be GROM data, that's more useful to other systems as well, or at least backup images from GRMCFG if they use the other functionality.

EDIT: I guess what's really missing is full documentation on how to get from point A to B. Since life conspired against me offering B absolutely, we can put together a little guide. It looks like most programmers can handle the ATMega, so there's really only a couple of steps involved. At the simplest, though, if you are starting from a blank AVR, you can either program just the firmware, then mount it in the TI for the rest (that was the intent, it's the simplest and only needs to be done once), or you can program the firmware and the GROM data at the same time (quicker since there's no TI program stage, but a little more complicated and requires the data to be prepared for this approach). If the AVR isn't blank, you can do the same or just use GROMCFG on the TI side.
