StopDrop&Retro Posted October 28, 2015 Share Posted October 28, 2015 Hello, I got this game from a retro shop a few months ago and I wanted to see if I could get any info on where it came from. I made a video so you guys can get a better idea of what it looks like without me going into every detail. Anyways, the game is definitely Spitfire Attack but the cartridge shell is different from any other I have. The cover art is so crazy and cool I want to know if anyone can at least pin down the artist. I know there were tons of companies releasing Atari games back in its time so I'm sure one of the more unscrupulous manufacturers put this out but is there any backstory to it? Is there even a company name attached to it? Was it for a foreign market? Does anyone have this cart in their collection or seen it? The square corners on the labels make me think cut with scissors rather than manufactured with a die cut (rounded corners). People are making their own labels all the time and some are passing it off as vintage. I'm going to order some off ebay. I'm disappointed though, I was hoping it was at least a comic book series of some sort. I checked under one of the corners to see if it really is just a promo card but it doesn't look like anything was ever written on the back. The material also seems to be the thickness of a playing card, not as much as baseball cards. If that image first appeared in 1994, that's way later than I would have imagined. But it still doesn't make sense to me as far as why someone would go through the trouble to make something like this.
