juice2839
OKAY OKAY the cats out of the bag...... There is something really big in the works.. Actually in the middle of the works. What is it you ask? It's a brand new CV main board that will fit in your old case or fit in a new small modern case. This board uses all new components and will be a fully functional backwards compatible to the Colecovision. It is also backward compatible with the SGM. It will also feature some other improvements. All the details will come shortly, but this WILL BE OUT BEFORE THE NEW YEAR!!!!! Oh Yeah and the price will be competitive with the SGM. I talked with 5-11. His is a direct copy of the Coleco, the Juicebox is coleco compatible, SGM compatible and will have other awesome features. If you notice he has been working on his since 2013 too, I plan to have this out before new year The pcb will be smaller, but I plan to make it adaptable to the original CV case without any hacking. Pixelboy
I'm waiting for details about two things before I decide if I want this or not: 1) What kind of TV output option(s) your new modern board will offer: HDMI would be best, but if your board were to be designed to receive the F18A, that would be very interesting to me too. You should talk with Matthew about the F18A, if you haven't already... 2) What kind of power supply it will use: If I can buy any generic power supply block and no longer be forced to use Coleco's old brick, that would be very appreciated, mostly because if such a generic power supply breaks down, I can just buy another one from my local electronics shop. EDIT: I'd like to add a third one: 3) What kind of power switch you'll be using: I suppose you'll be using a flip-style or push-toggle power switch, but either way, it should be better than the original problem-prone sliding switch.

Kamshaft
The only suggestion I have is the have most of the chips socketed. For easier removal/replacement in case of failure.

Vectorman
Please don't hardwire the controller plug sockets to the pcb. I would want to install mine in a new, small, modern case with the input jacks on the front like every other game system. Not facing the left so they're continually being tugged on by players sitting to the front of the system. That was such a stupid design decision by the CV designers, please don't repeat it. Great minds think a like. It will come with DB9 to 2x5 pin headers that plug into the board. Here are some preliminary mock ups of the PCB. The parts on the boards are the actual components. that will be used.

Doesn't that make it not plug & play if you'd have to solder in the controller ports? I'm not a technical person so for me, the least amount of DIY work the better. Ransom
Sounds like an interesting project. HDMI out would be nice, but just having composite out built-in will be nice for a lot of folks. As for myself, I have a Yurkie upgraded system with composite out. But it was done before there was a power mod available. So being able to use a standard power adapter with this board will be nice for me.

I think in this day and age of RGB and HDMI mods (I have one with the former, which is brilliant), it would be a disappointment if something like this took a step back to Composite, although if it were trivial to add an F18A, then I suppose that would a reasonable compromise. Still, I think most of us would like to see RGB or better on this.
ValkerieSilk
Can you confirm f18a compatibility, Pixelboy mentioned talking to Matthew about it? and can someone get this damn cat out of here... Since the F18A is a drop in replacement for the TMS9928 there is no reason it wouldn't work.

Bill, I think you will be super pleased and impressed when you get your hands on one of these It is actually going to have the option to plug in different, lets say Video cards or video daughter boards or an F18A. So you'll be able to have a choice of a few different video outputs.

Rev
A few questions. Maybe you already answered. Bear with me. 1. I can take your new juicebox pcb and replace existing colecovision pcb in my original console? 2. The juicebox pcb has sgm built in and no additional programming or any more requirements? 3. Does the juicebox have a cartidge slot? 4. Will the juicebox pcb fit in my colecovision flashback? 5. Will it ever overheat if left on? 6. Will you consider making a new small intellivision juicebox pcb with cartridge slot and built in intellivoice that fits into my intellivision flashback? Question 6 is serious!
