Turbo not working with 128-in-1 FLASH Cart

Has anyone had this issue?

The cart loads the game's splash screen.

I'm then taken to a screen with the following message

"To select a game option, press button keypad."

When pressing any button on the controller...nothing happens?

Is it possible i have a bad rom image?

Or maybe this is known problem with the game not working with the cart?

Hope you guys can help.

Thanks.

So you're using the hack of Turbo that is played with the stock Coleco controller?

Not sure what type of Turbo I'm using really. Its been so long I don't remember anymore.

The Turbo I have was taken from a random site years ago. Probably atleast 5-7 years back.

Controllers aren't really stock. Theyre rebuilt controllers with Yurkies flashback joystick added to them.

They've worked well with all the games so far. Just Turbo isn't playing nice. Probably just a dead rom.

You need the steering wheel attachment to play Turbo. It was hacked recently, however, to use the standard controller. You need to find that rom.

Wow,I had no idea. Thats just crazy that the original release made you buy the steering wheel.

Ok thanks for that valuable info. Going to go and Google for the hack. Many thanks!

(edit) Found It :D

Turbo was the pack-in game with the steering wheel!

Hey Hey...I can't help it if my my Atari bias is showing. :P

Coleco we had for only a short time as kids until my older brother broke the damn thing carrying it to a friends house. Was a dark day for sure.

But yep I was totally clueless about Turbo and the wheel being an all in one package.

Well better late than never finding out the facts. Thanks you guys.

  • 2 weeks later...

I was kinda bummed to see how badly Turbo aged, IMO. The game has an inherent 'drift' in the vehicle, so that you're always going slightly left or right; you need to be actively steering to go straight. You'll no doubt have noticed this playing with a joystick, where all you can do is accelerate straight ahead. Only it's not straight...you get the picture.

That said, there's no other way of playing Turbo...at least any other 'fun' way. You gotta use that wheel for maximum enjoyment. I don't bother playing it unless it's at Skill Level 3 these days.

Tell me when you reach the White House screen.

My guess is your original rom is fine. I think it was simply a matter of using the wrong controller port... It was probably looking for game select input from joystick #2, per the connection requirements of the Expansion Module #2 (see pic). :)
