TheDickChuck
Hi, I've seen others' code examples that are utilizing this line. This address seems to be in the zero page area, just after the established registers but before the normal $80 user RAM start. Could someone clarify? - this one threw my Atari world-view out of whack a bit. Is it just a cycle-waster? -DC
Nukey Shay
Cycle wasting. The hardware does not use 2E and 2F for anything...tho one could devise something like a bankswitch scheme that relies on them. The same is true for reads of 0E, 0f, 1E, 1F and any mirror addresses of the ones listed.
Omegamatrix
Yeah, it's an efficient way to waste 5 cycles with just 2 bytes. Also, I left some code for you to look at in the other thread you started if you are interested. It will allow you to draw 7 digits per frame. If you want two colors then you just alternate drawing the digits of color A on one frame, and drawing digits of color B on the next.
