That's actually quite interesting. :) If someone was to work on a ColecoVision version coded from scratch, he could peek at the original source code to make sure no detail is left out, thus ensuring that the game would contain all texts and features.

If CollectorVision could get a license from the German company who apparently owns the rights these days (according to the auction's description), they could make an exclusive version for the CollectorVision Phoenix that could make use of the keyboard port as well as the integrated F18A and SGM.

Cool! :)

I 'm not sure it is so interesting for this aspect.    Because i think Leisure suit larry use the ScummVM engine.  And we have already open source implementation of this engine for various plateform.    Then you have more or less  just to take the script of the game and run it on it as is.

So adapting the ScummVM engine to the Phoenix would be very interesting  as it will open the Phoenix to all ScummVM games...  ... and it is huge...

Having the rights from the german company is more interesting indeed.

SCUMM engine was made by Ron Gilbert at LucasArts

Sierra engine is way different, and the source code for this engine is not included with Al Lowe's disks

If it came from LucasArts, shouldn't it be the Rebel SCUMM engine?

Yes, that's what I was saying

SCUMM stands for Scrypt Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion

Yes, the original one .   but it have been ported to scumm by sierra later (in 91 i think)

So if you manage to port a Scumm engine to Phoenix , in theory you should be able to run it.

The open source scumm engines are available for various plateform.

But of course, is it possible to adaption the engine on Phoenix and still have enough resource to run the scripts...  it is another probleme...  ;-)

But if you implement a 80286 core with 1 Mega of Ram and a EGA or VGA Card... it should be possible.
