Complete Nintendo Wii Collection - Are You CRAZY?!

Mega game collector Kacy da Game Nerd walks us through his COMPLETE Nintendo Wii collection. 1260 games make up this impressive collection, but what we want to know is : WHY?! Are you CRAZY?

I sincerely think there are about 100+ games on the Wii that are legitimately worth collecting and a lot of fun. Is there a huge amount of shovel ware? Sure...but I still think the system is worth owning. What are some of your favorite Wii games?

I still say pinball cannot get much better than it did on the Wii. Using the motion controls to simulate table bumping is a whole lot more accurate and intuitive than arbitrary buttons on a gamepad. For that reason I still pop in my Pinball Arcade disc now and then. It sounds like the new Pinball Arcade with DLC may come to the Wii U after all, and I just might have to buy that console if it does.

I collect for the Wii, but only titles I plan on actually playing, or have played and have fond memories of. Some of my favorites would have to be:

  • Donkey Kong Country Returns (better on the Wii than on the 3DS, imo)
  • Super Mario Galaxy 1/2
  • No More Heroes 1/2
  • Red Steel 2 (whatever the first one was... what a piece of crap, not worth the $0.99 I paid for it)
  • Mercury Meltdown Revolution
  • Elebits
  • WarioWare Smooth Moves
  • All of the Kirby games
  • Metroid Prime Trilogy
  • Resident Evil 4 (other games, like the "Archives," are good too)
  • Dead Space Extraction
  • Lost in Shadow
  • Fragile Dreams
  • Rodea the Sky Soldier (stay away from the 3DS/Wii U versions)
  • Mario Kart Wii
  • Wario Land Shake It
  • Punch-Out!!
  • Dokapon Kingdom
  • Pandora's Tower
  • Castle of Shikigami III
  • The Last Story
  • Little King's Story
  • New Super Mario Bros. Wii
  • Xenoblade Chronicles
  • Tatsunoku vs. Capcom
  • Metal Slug Anthology
  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl
  • de Blob 1/2
  • Legend of Zelda TTP/SW
  • Goldeneye
  • Bully: Scholarship Edition
  • The Godfather
  • Okami
  • Zack & Wiki
  • Bit.Trip Complete (again, I prefer it over the 3DS version)
  • Cursed Mountain
  • Madworld
  • Klonoa
  • Dewey's Adventure
  • Sin and Punishment Star Successor
  • Excitebots Trick Racing
  • Ghost Squad
  • Fire Emblem, the Wii one, whatever it's called

That's off the top of my head. I still have a ways to go with my collection.

I absolutely love playing Baseball-games on the Wii. Feels so good to swing the "bat" and "throw" the ball instead of just pushing buttons and moving small thumbsticks around.

EDIT: How does he do it with the virtual-release-only games? Spread them out on multiple consoles? :-D

Pretty cool man. I have been watching your videos for awhile and its neat to see something like this. I personally consider the Wii to be the modern day NES in a way. Great system, great games (well some of them.....same as NES!) . I will never go for a complete collection personally but it is pretty cool to see someone has accomplished the feat.

My collection stands around 100 titles, with the occasional fluctuation as I have a change of heart or discover something new. Impressive collection, but I'd say that one would be hard pressed to track down much past 100 games for it that they have an interest in.

At 150, you'd pretty much be guaranteed of owning everything that you can find a positive mention of online including games few have ever even heard of like Minicopter: Adventure Flight. But if you're a bit more particular and don't especially enjoy some genres, you perhaps prefer HD versions on competing platforms when they're available, or just like the original versions and don't see a need to upgrade to the newer Wii iterations of games like Pikmin, 100 is likely about about it.

And even there, a good 10-15 of mine were titles I went into knowing I probably wouldn't think any differently than the review scores suggest, but I just wanted to see for myself to satisfy my curiosity (Including 2 or 3 universally hated games that were so cheap, I'd thought I'd give them a try and have a laugh).

Been rewarded a few times like with Minicopter, but more often than not, I had to agree after trying.

It sounds like the new Pinball Arcade with DLC may come to the Wii U after all, and I just might have to buy that console if it does.

Why the reason for optimism now for? Did Farsight post a hint on Facebook or something?

From the Pinball Arcade News & FAQ page:

We know you won't believe this one, but we are very proud to announce that the WiiU version of Pinball Arcade is coming soon! We are aiming for a very early 2016 release, so stay tuned!

Dated December 24th, 2015. I'm not holding my breath, but I am crossing my fingers.

Holy crap that's a ton of games!! I can't collect and gather the complete library of a specific console myself. I only go for the ones that I like the most and would enjoy playing. My Wii is softmodded with approximately 200 games burned into the hard drive. My favorites for the system are.

- Wii Sports

- Wii Sports Resort

- Donkey Kong Country Returns

- Metal Slug Anthology

- The Smurfs 2

- Sonic Colors

- Rayman Origins

- Punch-Out!!

- Data East Arcade Classics

- Batman The Brave and the Bold

- Super Mario Galaxy

- Super Mario Galaxy 2

- Wario Land Shake It

- Wario Ware Smooth Moves

- Kirby's Dream Collection

- Kirby's Return to Dream Land

- Super Paper Mario

- Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess

- Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword

- Wii Play

- New Super Mario Bros. Wii

- New Super Mario Bros. Wii 2 The Next Levels

- New Super Mario Bros. Wii Hellboy Edition

- Another Super Mario Bros. Wii

Why stay away from the Wii U version? I'm assuming something having to do with the controls, but why's it so bad?

The Wii U version is a pretty different game from the Wii version. As is the 3DS version. The Wii version is pretty solid, but from what I've gathered the other two versions are bad – really, really bad.
