Stella, OBS, and flickering

Hi all,

Lately I've been looking into doing a bit of video archiving. One of the games I'm trying to archive is Frogger. In doing so with OBS Studio, if you move Frogger to any of the car lanes, the cars or Frogger may or may not be visible. Same with the girlfriend on the log. This also happens with Space Invaders, but not Superman (Superman, bad guys, satellite on screen - flicker, and OBS shows all objects).

 

I also found that if you press TAB while running Frogger and the screen is showing the girlfriend on the log, Stella itself shows the log or the girlfriend while paused. I expect that, but it's still interesting to see it.

 

Windows 10

i7 4790k

nVidia 980

4K monitor, DisplayPort, 60Hz

 

Stella set to fullscreen, fullscreen fill, vsync on, framerate auto.

 

If I set the framerate to 60 or higher, I get the same problem. If I set the framerate to 30, OBS handles the flicker properly, but the game slows down.

 

While I realize this is probably an OBS issue, I'm just wondering if there's any way to fix this.

 

EDIT: Defender looks the worst.

 

And of course, the games look great on the monitor.

 

EDIT: I fixed it. I was assuming that OBS was pulling at 60fps. It wasn't. It was set to 30. Changed it to 60 in File->Settings->Video and now all is good.

Hey guys, sorry for resurrecting an old thread, I also have a problem with OBS studio and Stella. Whenever I try to record my game, it records the sound but gives me a black screen. If I try to record other PC games which do not use emulators everything looks fine. Any ideas?

 

I set sources to "game capture" and fps to 30.
