I am afraid that this answer is misguided.

1. TURGEN SYSTEM (TS) doesn't accept disk images (.atr, .xfd) on input (and never will).

2. Although TS accepts .cas tape images on input, it can interpret them as they are, but cannot convert them to Turbo 2000.

If you have some program to convert to Turbo 2000, obtain the program as binary file (.xex,.com). These files can be converted to Turbo 2000 by Turgen System.

I am sorry for misguiding.

Ad.2. Empty bottle from Budweiser helps me to say that you have another challenge in Turgen - cas conversion. ;).

Hmm,

an empty bottle from Pilsner Urquell :) tells me that it all depends on what is inside the tape image. If it is a boot file, you can extract it to a .xex file using the tape image extractor. If it is a binary file prefixed with a binary loader, you can do the same. If it is something special (special loader, special format), then automatic extraction is not possible and one has to become a hacker.

There are other challenges in Turgen - I am now improving imperfect binary file processing (it is one of the essential parts of Turgen. There are some corner cases when it doesn't work). Besides, there are always more turbo systems to support. I would like to try INJEKTOR from Chile.

Oh yes,

on real Atari, you can try COPY.TSD from here: http://atari.turiecfoto.sk/soft/copy-tsd.zip.

This program copies files from disk to Turbo 2000. Remember that to turbo 2000, you can convert only binary files with one data segment and one pure run segment

You will probably need also a cassette version turbo 2000 loader. The best way to store it on tape is to use loader-generator. You will run the loader-generator from disk with DOS and it will write cassette version of turbo 2000 loader to cassette.

Get it here: http://atarionline.pl/utils/5.%20Magnetofon/Universal%20Turbo%20Loader-Generator/Universal%20Turbo%20Loader-Generator.xex

1. Copy COPY.TSD and the loader generator to a floppy disk with DOS 2.0 or DOS 2.5

2. Copy your binary files to that disk too

3. Run loader-generator to store the turbo 2000 loader to cassette

4. Run COPY.TSD to copy the binary files to turbo 2000

The message says just what it is says - You are trying to convert a binary (.xex) file as a monolithic binary file, but the input binary file is not monolithic.

If you click the blue label named "Input File" a dialog that displays structure of the binary file will appear. You will probably see more than one DATA segment in the listing of segments. And by definition, monolithic binary files can have only one DATA segment.

To convert the binary file to Turbo 2000, you will have to select different conversion type - Chainloading or Blockloading.

Some background information:

When Czechoslovak Turbo 2000 was introduced in late 1980's, it defined only very simple file format that allowed to store only monolithic binary files. Local publishers were expected to publish monolithic binary files, while pirates, hackers, and crackers were converting software to monolithic binary files. That is why Turbo 2000 utilities that run on Atari support only monolithic binary files.

Later, there were introduced more turbo systems (such as Turbo 2000 - kilobyte blocks, TURBO TAPE, and B-TAPE). These turbo systems are not limited to monolithic binary files. Turbo 2000 (and its faster extension named Super Turbo that shared the same limitation) was the dominant system, however.

TURGEN SYSTEM was developed many years later for users who download programs and games from internet archives. In the internet archives, non-monolithic binary files are predominant. That is why TURGEN SYSTEM not only supports Turbo 2000 - kilobyte blocks and B-TAPE, but also introduces special extensions of Turbo 2000 named Chainloading and Blockloading that allow to convert non-monolithic binary files easily.

To convert the Dropzone game, you have 3 choices

1. Convert the binary file using Chainloading or Blockloading

2. Find different version of the game that is a monolithic binary file (Atarionline.pl hosts Dropzone (1984)(U.S. Gold)(GB)[a1].xex which is monolithic)

3. Use Turbo 2000 - kilobyte blocks or B-TAPE (You have to select a binary loader other than "None", of course).

There is a program named DOS 2 Binary File checker that can search whole directory trees of binary files and find monolithic ones (and copy them to a separate directory).

You can download it from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/turgen/files/dos_2_binary_file_checker/

One last note. If your data recorder is upgraded to Czechoslovak Turbo 2000, you can also use the following turbo systems:

1. Turbo 2000

2. Super Turbo

3. Turbo 2000 - kilobyte blocks

4. B-TAPE
