Rick Dangerous
I had the opportunity recently to buy this cartridge and picked it up. I was told this "Gold Battlesphere" proto/developer cart is actually the finalized version of the original Battlesphere that was demo'd at shows before the game's first run was originally published in 2000. The port on the front is where the ROM was loaded from the alpine development unit. I am excited to add it to my collection and am curious to know more about it. Does anyone: -Else have one or has seen one? -Know about this version and the date? -Any other assorted info or stories? Thanks, and excited to learn more about this cart. TXG/MNX
So basicly you bought an Atari Flashcartridge that they flashed with an copy of battlesphere this would not make the flashcard more special. It's the same as loading the rom in a skunkboard. To bad no other rom was loaded on it that we didn't know. But maybe you're lucky and dump the rom from the flashcard and check if the code is different from the retail code. Then you got a nice buy. But I like the original flashcarts myself only thing is that you need dos or old windows to flash it. On mdgames.de you can find winflash. Enjoy your purchase :-) Sent from UMI hammer with Tapatalk
+Saturn
Looks legit with that title screen variation. Hope you do dump that badboy. Would like to have a go with it and look for differences. That flash cart is NICE in and of itself. Even if you don't have an Alpine with stubualted Jaguar, that's a nice collector's piece
Clint Thompson
I guess the real way to find out the legitimacy of this cart is to hear someone from the Battlesphere team themselves back it up. I've never seen a flash cart with warranty void stickers over the screw holes or a part number for the flash cart, which to me would seem kind of fishy in an attempt to try to make it credible or pass as a real proto or pre-release of the game but I could be wrong. With that said, I have no idea about the date screen as I don't even have Battlesphere and have only played it at Jagfests in the past so someone else may have more knowledge in that regard. Either way, congrats on the nice flash cart. No thing like the real thing!
Rick Dangerous
I won't name any names but I bought it from a very regular member of (and contributor to) the Jaguar/AA community who I have from purchased from before, will purchase from again, and trust completely. Thanks for the feedback thus far. I don't have an old PC or Alpine so I doubt i'll be looking at the code anytime soon! The title screen certainly is unique compared to my BSG copy. Very helpful. Interesting to learn some history on the cart as far as who has owned it on AA lol..
sh3-rg
Interesting variation, even if it's just a title screen and nothing else. Normally I'd suggest dumping and preserving it asap, but, well it's *that game* and ooh that'd be a crazy thing to suggest. If you do decide to back it up, whatever you do don't get advice from gaztee *cough* livewire *cough* baleeeet *cry*
Serblander
I had the opportunity recently to buy this cartridge and picked it up. Great addition to the collection! -Else have one or has seen one? -Know about this version and the date? -Any other assorted info or stories? Thanks, and excited to learn more about this cart. I had the opportunity to buy one back in the early 2K's but instead went for a NIB Jaguar CD Add-On from GoAtari. The main reason for not getting the Battleshphere on Flashcart is because that version of Battleshpere was not able to be networked when demo'ed in Chicago. I would be curious to see if you can network this version to your Battleshpere Gold official release. If so, this may be a latter build, if not, an earlier one. Though i can't remember now if the Flashcart i was looking at purchasing was a Classic or Gold, i think it was a Classic. That would also make sense as the one dated in your picture would have come after the initial showcasing at CEShow's. I've still got one Classic and one Gold release but not at hand to check the dates. I'm sure someone else can share that info. If not, i'm setting up my Jag area next week so i can chime in again then. Btw, just the other week i started thinking and looking back at my old emails to see if i had the contact of the person selling that Battlesphere on Flashcart, now i see your post. How funny. This is now two for two Jag related coincidence-experiences within the last few weeks
Rick Dangerous
Sadly had to list this today, after a year and change of ownership and a lot of fun with it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/132204549549? I was laid off Monday and went from making good money to......unemployment. LOL. Hopefully I will have another job very soon, but in the meantime I need to trim some high priced items from my collection to keep the wheels greased and bills paid. Would like to be nice and give this to some AA member for pennies, but I have a mortgage, two car payments, the usual, so trying to maximize my return on investment. Feel free to PM me with any offers.

Songbird
This "gold" version was the final playtest version sent out before the original BattleSphere was published. As far as I know, it is identical to the published ROM in terms of content and gameplay.
Jagosaurus
Good luck Travis! Both in the sale & your career. I just used some recent video game sales for family medical bills rather than tapping savings. At the end of the day, they're just video games . You're in the right state of mind there. Cool piece of Jaguar history here. I didn't know this existed.
Rick Dangerous
It didn't sell, so i think I'm just going to hang onto it. Luckily I got some consulting work so the bills will be paid and no need to sell. My dream stays alive of owning this, BS, BSG, and Battlephere Trio (once I can get you-know-who to sell it to me ) Edited June 5, 2017 by travistouchdown
