Adventure...7800 Version?

Wasn't somebody working on something like that with Legend Of Zelda-style graphics?

There is Quest for the Golden Chalice , a homebrew for CV. Is that what you are thinking of ?

I believe this thread, specifically this post may be the reference point. :)

Please note, Maximus stated, "...it could take several years...", if the project is being pursued. It would also require some collaboration with others. ;)

Graciously, PAC-MAN-RED added a slew of graphics that could possibly be utilized for such a project. He posted a number of updates starting with the aforementioned link. :-D

I experimented with Adv3 some but haven't had much time for it lately.

-Evolved the square dude into a cube dude, while I think it was worth keeping him as a 2D square on 5200 to do the backgrounds so detailed I don't think it is required on 7800.

-Wasn't sure what kind of control scheme would be best, dual wield with pause menu item shuffling, or Pickup/Putdown+Use Item button?

-Would like more maps, I get lost even in the original game. :lolblue:

-Probably some NPCs, inventory, and minor story based content would be a nice feature expansion. Didn't like the story in Pixa on iOS but I liked the method it used IE. bite sized chunks.

Is there a working file for testing?

Well I guess I have to explain further!

The original 2600 version!

I actually missed what you meant too when you started this, you just want the original in a remix sort of way. No offense but that isn't very interesting, with Adventure 1&2 existing already it only seems logical to close a trilogy on the third Atari console.

Would be nice to see a 7800 update to this 2600 game. Could never get into the original.

If you want better visuals than the original or just more of it there is always:

Adventure 2

Adventure Plus

https://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=145

Another Adventure?

Epic Adventure

EMR II - Evil Magician Returns

Hard to see anyone remaking Adventure1 on the 7800. I guess if Cafeman ever ports Adventure2 to the 7800 he could probably take those graphics and the engine to make the first game on 7800 with some ease. Then there's always the Lynx forum, they don't have Adventure titles as far as I know. :)

What about the successor to the successor? Robot Odyssey ;)

I've heard of that one, supposed to be one of the more challenging educational games ever made, some people never finished it. I guess it would be the most fun you could have learning. :)

Bladejunker was your design inspired by anyway by the sega genisis game fatal labyrinth a few of the elements seem reminiscent of that game

It's a good observation and I can see the resemblance but no I wasn't influenced by Fatal Labyrinth, hear it isn't popular but I was going to give it a try if I found a cheap copy. ;)

The general look and layout is mostly just trying to do more of realistic perspective, most of the early RPGs look like people laying on the ground lol.

The colors used was me trying to match the vibrancy seen in ADV2.

The avatar has a couple influences. My Ma got me a wooden dude that transforms into a cube, sort of rubber band system. And the second aspect was thinking beyond ADV3 into ADV4 which I imagined being on Jaguar as a flat shaded model in a texture mapped world.

Oh and the HUD is just Zelda based, not necessary final design but the size of screen clipping gives it a decent resolution. Dual wielding sounds good but you have to keep the console nearby to make that happen.

What I would love to see someone do, is something along the lines of Super Mario Maker.

One could design their Adventure and share it. Probably not possible on a 7800, but a PC based app with capability to D/L it to a Cuttle cart/Harmony type cart would be awesome.

That sounds alright to me, the flash cart would be the easiest route but these days an on board memory solution on the cartridge is probably practical now too. Damn memory was expensive in the past, I don't how anything got as much as it did in retrospect. :)

Bet that would be hard to do on the 5200 but the 7800 shouldn't have trouble with user created tilemaps, I'm not even sure how they got ADV2 looking as good as it does, I mean it has more Player Objects than a 2600 but that is a lot of tiles.
