Lynx Multi Card Preorders

SainT

Recommended Posts

Just got mine today. It looks great but I need to buy a Micro SD card to use with it (I thought it took regular SD for some reason). What size card do I need to fit all the known Lynx roms (I figure other people will want to know before they get theirs).

Tell us more, you got it working yet? :)

I'm excited more people are going to get to play with them... ;)

Unfortunately not yet, as I don't have a spare Micro SD card floating around. I'll post something next week once I'm back from MGC and have the SD card (it's being delivered next week).

@SainT, which SD card sizes are supported?

I have seen you were mentioning 4 GB SD cards you have tested. Will SD cards of larger capacity also work?

I am asking since e.g. 2 or 4 GB SD cards are getting more and more difficult to find, and if they often are more expensive than larger ones.

You may want to add your answer to your FAQ, if you think this makes sense.

Thanks!

I'm not sure to be honest, I don't have any larger cards to test.

For what it's worth - I'd like a cased one please Mr SainT (probably better to state that intention now rather than assume you get enough cases made), could you update my order.

I'm 3D printing the cases, so they won't run out... :)

Well I tried out the cart today, no luck yet. I didn't have the recommended 4g or less micro SDs, so I tried what I had on hand, 64g and 8g. I couldn't get those to work but tomorrow I'm going to try to pick up the recommended cards and hopefully I'll have better luck.

Make sure you format to FAT32 and copy menu.bin to the root of the card. I think I'll track down some cheap cards and start shipping with them so people can just plug in and play... I can't stand the stress. ;)

I've ordered some cheap 1GB cards which I'll try out. If this is all good I'll start shipping with cards like this. I hate people having to faff about to get things working, I'd rather ship a complete package I know works together...

Well as things would have it none of the local stores sell micros less than 8, in fact it was almost impossible to find below 16 lol. Well I'll order some online and get this thing up and running. In the mean time I'll play with the 8 and 64 I have and see if there is something I can do to get them working. Who knows maybe I just made a stupid mistake in setting them up and that is the reason they arn't working.

As a side note fat32 is no longer supported on Win10 so you need to use a separate utility to format it, or an older computer with a Windows version that does support fat32.
