Wally1
I want to buy an original boxed Starglider from ebay. can I install it to a hard drive? thanks
galax
With very few exceptions, the answer is always 'no'. Game disks are almost always 'protected', to make it difficult to see the files and to copy them. Fortunately for us many games have been deprotected and hard disk adapted by smart and dedicated coders, so you can put this version on your hard drive: http://atari.8bitchip.info/SCRSH/stargl.html
ggn
From what I remember from my Power Pack bundle Starglider loads all files (which are plain gemdos files) in one go so it should probably be hard disk installable (unless there's a protection check). Otherwise you can check out Klapauzius' patched version here: http://klapauzius.net/Old_Games.html#Starglider
ParanoidLittleMan
Probably ggn is right considering that load in one go - so remember I too. But that, and lack of copy protection is not enough for hard disk install. Game needs AUTO run, hard disk driver occupies RAM area used by game - usual problems. Whole idea is just bad - buying original and then talking about hard disk install Btw. mine adapt supports monochrome mode too.
ataricrypt
Yeah, both downloads are awesome but I went with PP. The game is awesome in high resolution! :-) http://ataricrypt.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/starglider.html
