As far as I know it was pretty stable when work ended on it, so while it may not be the most visually stunning anymore it doesn't look too bad in my humble opinion. You can access a website with info here: http://3darcade.mameworld.info/ There are still 3D cabs being occasionally released for it, and the forum has some activity and info on it. I remember hearing some discussion about trying to port or re-create this frontend on the Unity platform, but I'm pretty sure the project died.
