7800 Cartridge With Dust Cover

I recently acquired several Atari games in an eBay auction. To my surprise, one of the 7800 games(Dig Dug) has a spring-loaded dust cover! The label dates the game at 1986.

Is this news to anyone else? I never knew Atari used dust covers in any of the 7800 games they produced. Is this an early Warner, Atari Inc. release that was relabeled when Atari Corp took over? How common are these?

I once owned a 2600 "Track and Field" cartridge with the same type of dust cover - two coil springs positioned at each end of the dust cover.

Nothing special, many 7800 games had the spring loaded dust cover. It was much more common to have the open ended universal cart, but nothing rare.

Yes, I think all 7800 carts from 1986 have that dust cover. The 1987 and later carts do not. Though occasionally you will see a relabeled 1986 cart with a 1987 label.

I have tons in my pile of donors (200+, more than half are ready to roll, so they do not have labels anymore), they are not that uncommon at all.
