Nebulon
WarTech on the XB360. It wasn't until I looked at the extra content on the disc that I noticed that the artwork was designed for an arcade cabinet.
Nebulon
I had no idea Section Z was an arcade game until I tried it lately. Imo it sucks compared to the NES version. Also I had no idea Castlevania was actually a port of an arcade game called Haunted Castle by Konami until recently. Again not as good as the NES version imo. I dunno.... The graphics in the NES version look primitive compared to the arcade version. I'll have to play the NES version and compare gameplay. +Black_Tiger
I didn't realize that Strider, Ghouls 'n Ghosts and Forgotten Worlds were arcade ports when they came out for Genesis. I thought that they were just keeping in the arcade style of early Genesis games and that Strider and GnG were arcade-styles takes on Strider NES and Ghosts 'n Goblins. To this day, I don't think I've ever seen any of these games as an actual arcade machine, even though I live where the most obscure imports were common. Forgotten Worlds was the only one I really liked. The others two seem like mispkaced bastardizations by Sega, who didn't get what made the original games great. Which made it all the more shocking when I discovered that Capcom had originally designed them. Also I had no idea Castlevania was actually a port of an arcade game called Haunted Castle by Konami until recently. Again not as good as the NES version imo. It's not. Haunted Castle was released years after the MSX/FDS original. I knew that SMB was an arcade game before a home console port, but that is only because a bowling alley had the cabinet. Part of what sold us on getting the NES back in the day. Lol. It's the other way around. VS Super Mario Bros is a port of the Famicom game. Tempest
It's the other way around. VS Super Mario Bros is a port of the Famicom game. Sorta. It's more like a hack of the NES/Famicom game. It's a bit different.
madhatter667
Lol. Hey, I was kinda small. I remember seeing the arcade cabinet before seeing it as a home game. At the time, I didn't know that a console had launched in Japan prior. I didn't even see an NES until 1987-88 or so.
