+atari2600land
...I think the one I got is a junky one. I got Donkey Kong with it and the screen is all glitched up. To be sure though I would like some more Colecovision games to test on this thing. A chance to get rid of your duplicates: sell them to me. First impressions: #1 - the AC plugin thing is huge! Does it really need to be that big? #2 - I don't like the fact that you have to wait about 10 seconds before the menu comes up. I think my controller is broken. It responds, but not very well in DK, I tried putting in a Colecovision Flashback console version controller and the keypad worked but the joystick didn't. Channel 4 gives me a much better picture than Channel 2, but sometimes there's no sound. Turning it off and fiddling with the cartridge solves this problem. So yeah, anyone have any spare Colecovision games laying around for me? Edited May 2, 2016 by atari2600land
Ikrananka
Sounds like a job for Yurkie.
ColecoDan
If you replace the Bios with one of the Bios that people have changed they have gotten rid of the delay. I think they changed the delay to 3 seconds and if you hit the fire button it switches immediately to the menu. This Bios does break 2 games however if that matters to you. I think it was sewer sam and something else. DK is one of the smallest games and usually the one that breaks last so if that is garbled up it is pretty good estimate that you need to clean and relube your on/off switch. There are topics on forum for how to fix switch. If that doesn't work then you probably need a new huge brick plug.

Yurkie has a BIOS that not only allows you to skip the startup screen by pressing the fire button, but also includes a Sewer Sam fix by youki. This is the BIOS I put in my CVs and I have had no problems with it whatsoever.
+atari2600land
Could it be that I just have a bad Colecovision cartridge? I opened up my Colecovision and did the best I could cleaning the power switch without desoldering it apart. The sharp edges on it hurt my thumb and scraped my fingernail a little. My thumb hurts. I hope I don't have tetanus.
+atari2600land
There is some red stuff on the contacts of the cartridge.
cdn2a
Clean everything with isopropyl, switch, connector, should have nothing on it. Yes the adapter needs to be that big, 4 voltages and all... If you dont feel like sending your coleco away, bios can be bought here, same as the vram if it turns out thats the issue... http://console5.com/store/kits/bios.html
Pixelboy
There is some red stuff on the contacts of the cartridge. Rust, blood or ketchup?
+atari2600land
I don't know how to solder, would I need to know how to install that BIOS thing? (My thumb turned out fine, by the way.)
+5-11under
You'll need to know how to solder, or find someone who does know: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/163446-diy-modifications-for-colecovision/?p=2019229 There are several BIOS files in the post right above that one. +atari2600land
I CLEANED MY COLECOVISION! It works now and the sprite artifacts are gone, I cleaned and cleaned and CLEANED the power switch until under my fingernail started peeling away a little bit and I can't put the case back on like it's supposed to be for some reason, but at least I have a great picture. carlsson
Perhaps there should be a new subtitle for this section: "Have You Cleaned ColecoVision Today?"
+atari2600land
Why would they think that waiting about 10 seconds before a menu comes up would be a good thing?
privateers69
I think they do that to show licensing
+atari2600land
I was able to put the case back on my Colecovision. I'm glad it works now.

Nice, if my Yurkie fixed colecovision ever starts to go bad again I will have to remember to tell him to put the new Bios in.
Lord Innit
This reminds me to start giving my Colecovision a good clean all over inside and out, including the power switch before they start rolling out the SGM 3rd run.
