Smack2k
Put this in hardware forum by accident...so can be removed from there: I have tried to fix the pins on the 72-pin connector my NES already had and got them back to looking new...I have tried a newly bought 72-pin connector that was un-used and have this same issue. When I put games in the NES and hit power, the screen is blue most of the time (sometimes the game will start fine). But if I push down on the cartridge, holding it down, and dont let it pop-up the little bit it does after you release the cart loader (about a 1/2 inch it comes back up), the game loads fine and can be started. What else can I look at on my system? Its driving me nuts as two different connectors do the same thing..and one was new!

xenomorpher
This happened to me when I installed a new 72 pin connector. It worked after I loosened the front screws which kind of adjusted the tension of the cartridge push down mechanism. It took some fiddling around but I got mine to work without having to use a Game Genie.
Smack2k
Do you mean the front screws holding the cartridge mechanism to the board or screws on the actual cart mechanism? Would love to give it a try.....
xenomorpher
It's been awhile but I remember messing with the screws that hold the mechanism to the board. It could be on the mechanism itself. Also the corner case screw that is on the bottom of the actual system under or near where you put the games through the slot I had to adjust. I had it tight and the mechanism wouldn't lock down with a game in it so I had to loosen that too. This was over five years ago and I don't know the exact specifics, but it did work after I messed around with the screws.
