simbalion
I am wondering if a small color TV can safely sit on an Adam computer? I have a full working Adam computer, along with a spare base unit and parts base unit that I'd like to set up again with a small, RCA colortrack TV that I picked up not long ago. Both my Colecovisions have issues, yet the Adam worked great the last time I used it, but it hogs quite a bit of space with that printer and being able to possibly set the tv on the unit might save some space. Want to check about that before I do it though.
CRTGAMER
Considering the vintage and rarity of the Adam, maybe get a printer stand to keep the weight off the decades old plastic? Edited May 13, 2016 by CRTGAMER
jblenkle
Wouldn't be my first choice to place a monitor on top of the console as it 1.) might block the vents on the top of the console, and 2.) might contribute to zapping any data packs you use being that they would be directly below it. Milli V
I haven't had an issue - but in use a LCD screen
+save2600
Damn, those disk drives side by side, sure make the console seem small! LCD is fine and not too heavy on the Adam, but I too would go out of my way not to place a CRT on it. Have had a 1702 monitor sitting atop a pair of 1541's for years though with zero probs, but those drives are nice and deep and built like bricks! NIAD
Do not place a heavy CRT TV or Monitor on top of the Memory Console, especially if part of it is going to rest above where your Digital Data Drive are and blocking the vents is ill-advised on any electronics... they are there for a reason. A modern LCD like MilliV pictures would be fine.
ValkerieSilk
Ya, I built a stand for mine, a monitor/TV is to heavy, but the LCD setup above looks safe...

A modern LCD like MilliV pictures would be fine. The memory console should indeed be able to support a modern LCD screen, but if it were me, I would still be worried about the weight. Over time, it may deform the memory console's cover a little bit, as the plastic is not very thick. It depends on the actual weight of the screen. Just my two cents. Andromeda Stardust
Back in the day, I used to lean my late 90s beige tower on it's side with a bulky monitor on top. CDROM drive had fingers in the tray to catch the disc when operated vertically so everything worked. But that case was made of sheet metal. Apples to oranges. I would use a monitor stand, although those are getting pretty hard to find now with flat panels. You seem to have modular steel shelving in that photo. Why not install a shelf a couple inches above the computer?
simbalion
I might go with the printer stand idea. That way I can set the ADAM printer above the main unit with the TV off to the side. It seems I always have just enough space for the ADAM or the TV, not both!

It seems I always have just enough space for the ADAM or the TV, not both! That's how we did it when my father bought the Adam back in 84. He made the stand to put the memory console under the printer.
