twh/f2
Hi *, Is anyone aware of a DOS-file version (XEX) of SynCalc and VisiCalc? I think it's real good productivity software and I would like to put it in my SDX HDD partition. But SynCalc as well as Visicalc are Booter-disks. I'm pretty sure, that I have seen an Visicalc XEX version but never had one of SynCalc.. Next issue would be SDX compatibility I guess .. but let's see regards, twh! Mathy
Hallo Thorsten This should be a start: https://atariwiki.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=Synapse%20SynCalc Sincerely Mathy
neglectoru
Hallo Thorsten This should be a start: https://atariwiki.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=Synapse%20SynCalc Sincerely Mathy Thanks for this reference! I tried to use these versions under Altirra, and ran into problems (that I suspect have to do with Altirra's arrow key handling, not the program) When I run this in Altirra, I was unable to use the arrow keys to move around the spreadsheet. Does anyone know the proper keys / Altirra settings to get navigation working?

In this case, hold down <ALT> while using the arrow keys.
twh/f2
Hi, This is all I have in my collection. Maybe one might be of use. Spreadsheet XEX.zip Hi Fuls, I gave theses versions yesterday a try on my SDX / SIDE2. I already expected that they won't be very SpartaDosX - friendly. Visicalc won't run at all (Black screen) and Syncalc has severe issues on Disk I/o causing the Atari to crash eventually. greetings, twh/f2 Edited May 25, 2016 by twh/f2
flashjazzcat
I gave theses versions yesterday a try on my SDX / SIDE2. I already expected that they won't be very SpartaDosX - friendly. Visicalc won't run at all (Black screen) and Syncalc has severe issues on Disk I/o causing the Atari to crash eventually. Visicalc runs if you use "X VISICALC" (and you should also use "X" with SynCalc) but I don't know enough about the program to test loading/saving, etc. It seems to work, though. SynCalc crashes during IO because it leaves a display list interrupt running at the top of the banking window during calls to the disk device via the CIO. SDX (when run from banked RAM, as is necessary when using SIDE driver) banks itself in and the program promptly crashes on the next NMI. Just goes to show how risky it is to put ISRs in the banked region unless one is careful when calling the FMS. Even the DOS 2.5 RAMdisk should reliably crash it, so SDX isn't really to blame here. I guess the program could be hacked to work. Visicalc looks like the better bet at the moment, though.
