Bally Alley had an inspiring thread awhile back on the Atari 8-bit forum about a Tiny BASIC for the Atari.

http://atariage.com/...on-atari-8-bit/

If you know Bally BASIC, you will be able to program the Atari immediately with this Tiny BASIC! :)

Check out the examples on the thread:

I just re-read that thread.  I had somehow not read the last posting there, which is actually about a port of Tiny BASIC to the Atari 2600.  It's called vwBASIC (Virtual World BASIC).  You can read about it here:

http://atariage.com/...on-atari-8-bit/

I was pretty surprised to learn that there was no port of Tiny BASIC to the Atari 8-but computers.  It makes sense why it doesn't already exist (after all, there is already Atari BASIC), but there are so many tech/demo projects that I'd figure someone would have ported the 6502 port of Tiny BASIC to the Atari.  Maybe someday someone will do that.  I know I'd give it a whirl.

(Thanks, "Mr SQL," for bringing attention this Tiny BASIC thread over here in the Astrocade sub-forum).

You're welcome! I think Astrocade programmers have the familiarity with Tiny BASIC to start programming in this BASIC right away.

And I am working on a compatible version for the 8-bit :)

If you make it 5200 compatible you can be the ONLY BASIC compiler for that console.  5200BAS is long, long inactive.

Yes I am making it compatible with the 5200 and 400. I am hoping to have it compile the same games accross systems so I am really abstracting the hardware on the 8-bit.
