Just bought a Lynx! I'm concerned about the screen though...

So, the other day I walked into my local game shop (G2k Games) and I bought a boxed copy of Chip's Challenge, even though I didn't have a Lynx. I just wanted a boxed copy of Chip's Challenge! However, after I got home, I started looking into the Lynx, and I couldn't resist going back to the store and buying one! They had two, both were the second model, and the first one I bought had a pretty messed up screeen. It had these splotchy colors in the upper-left corner, and the colors were all messed up unless you pushed in on the casing near option 2. I brought it back and they gave me the other one, which is really nice! However, I just noticed last night that it also has a tiny amount of those splotches on the screen as well. Most are near the upper left, however there are a few scattered around the screen. You can only see them when the screen is dark and the system is on. I've attached a photo. It's pretty hard to see them. My question is, is there anything I should do, and should I worry about this? Or is it out of my hands and I'll just have to replace the screen eventually? Thanks for any help!

To answer your questions though, yes worry. You should get it checked or crack that thing open and check it yourself. It is hard to see especially on my phone, but it looks like liquid inside or the screen is busted??? More pics would help. I can guarantee you that you need to replace that screen with McWills LCD, the caps and for safety sake, replace Q12 & D13. Just my 2¢.

There's no liquid inside. In the pic I posted I was looking through a magnifying glass, so any scratches on that are showing, and there are also a few pieces of dust underneath the screen cover. The brightness is all the way down because that's the only way to see the "splotches"... And maybe that's not the best word. "Specs" would probably be a better word because they're so tiny. The pic really doesn't show what I'm talking about since they're so tiny I can barely get my iPod to focus. I've managed to take some better pics now. There's one of Battlewheels (The dark spot in the middle is only visible to the camera.) and the other picture is with the brightness all the way down with the lights out. Now the little specs are more visible.

I'd definitely like to get a nicer screen at some point, but I don't think it's urgent right now.

Pretty common for lynxes to have the following screen problems:

Clusters of deal pixels

A darker center band (about 1/3rd of the screen)

Some splotches/screen rot of the LCD in random spots. Seen this quite a bit.

Like Krip says, do that MOSFET and Zener diode. I also have a stash of Lynx LCDs I need to go through and pick out the best ones so that I can send them to folks who need better ones. Done about 15 McWill mods, so I have a lot of originals.
