24Fanatic365
How often have you encountered them? I bought 4 carts locally last weekend and didn't try them out until my console arrived today. It seems Asteroids and Galaga are both dead. The 7800 boots up and the Atari logo comes up and then...nothing. Is there anything simple that can be done to revive these, or should I just take them back to the shop I got them from and trade them for other carts? arcadegeek23
Have you just tried some rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and cleaning the edge connectors. That works for me most of the time.
toiletunes
I've had one dead 7800 cart (out of 100-ish) and it was a NOS still shrinkwrapped Dark Chambers from a reliable seller. Fortunately, they're inexpensive.
fiddlepaddle
I also had one brand new shrink wrapped that never worked (Xenophobe).
+-^CrossBow^-
BITD I had F-14 Tomcat for the 7800 and it completely just up and died after 2 weeks. I took it back and picked up F-18 instead which, still works great to this day. It happens sometimes.
Jinks
Never a 7800 game. Plenty of 2600 games tho.
edladdin
My first copy of Galaga had a weird glitch in that you could play through two waves, then that first bonus wave would never appear. The game would not crash, it would just stay there as if stuck between the 2nd and bonus waves. You had full control of your ship to slide along the bottom and fire while the starfield twinkled along, but the next wave never came. I took it back to the shop and swapped it out for a copy of Dark Chambers.
24Fanatic365
Tried the rubbing alcohol. Asteroids came back to life, but Galaga doesn't do anything. At least my Food Fight and Robotron work. Those games are stupid amazing! Sent from my iPhone directly into your brain using Tapatalk

walter_J64bit
If you cant get the game to work you can use as Store credit. https://www.atariage.com/store/index.php?l=page_view&p=atariage_buying Edited August 9, 2016 by walter_J64bit
FireTiger
Put that nonworking one back in and have it pushed forward (or back) and power on- if it comes up and stays you have a squishy cart connector. Try both forwards and back- I have over 400 carts and only one was 'bad' (it got a salt water or soda bath in it's distant past)
Andromeda Stardust
Spray some CPU duster in the cart slot. Follow up with some contact cleaner, then vigorously insert and remove a game before it evaporates. Sometimes it's the connector that gets dirty, especially if you've just crammed some secondhand never-been-cleaned games. Debris will transfer to the connector slot making all your games not want to work.
