Milli V
Hi Guys - going to throw this out here and see if there is interest and if so how much. Have a disk drive I got about 2 months ago - when I got it it worked for about 5 minutes but now it does everything but read a disk - ie goes through the motions of formatting, spins up, head seeks, steps when formating etc. I did some swapping of components with another drive and odds are it is on the drive board, not on the Adam controller board - when I move the mechanism to a different controller board the problem follows it and the original controller board has no problem handling the mech from another drive. So the question is - anyone interested in buying it? I can throw in some disks so when / if you get it working you will be ready to go. I have the feeling a capacitor or something failed on the drive itself but I am a programmer, not an electrician so I would probably do more damage trying to fix it then if I just left it alone. I only come on here once a day or so - so if you want to get a hold of me quicker you would be better off doing so on Facebook in the Coleco Adam page. Milli The fact that it worked at all seems to point more to a misaligned head. It seems to know what it is doing when called upon to perform a task. I have already played with the head and got a drive to work. Slightly loosen the 2 tiny hex screws holding the read head in position (keep fairly tight) and then move it slightly as the drive tries to perform a function.
