3DO USB, PSIO, Neo Geo AES system,

The (much) cheaper route is to just buy the PSIO directly from Cybdyn Systems. Have it installed, then just use ImgBurn to make new disc BIN images. Buya few cheap PS1 discs, rip, resell, buy more, repeat.

The problem is they can only produce so many and make a batch available to sell. The batch usually gets sold out quickly so either you could be waiting a few months to catch them at the right time for only $149 AUD plus you would have to modify and install the switch board in PSX, or buy one ready to play now for a whole lot more.

It will be quite a while before the demand finally dies down and it becomes easy to buy PSIO just when you feel like it and have $150 to spend.

What does "Metal Slug conversion" mean out of curiosity?

AES and MVS carts are mostly the same, just slightly different pinouts. One can be converted into the other, as this one was.

True, but it'll still be around for ordering for a while, and in any even a cheap PS2 with the HDD added on and FreeMcBoot works even better. This is really only for hardware purists.

Keep an eye on their upcoming DCIO, too...

Bootleg. A true "conversion" uses the chips from an MVS (arcade) Neo Geo cart transplanted into a home cart. These days a lot of "conversions" are EPROMs burned with teh romz.

This one uses real MVS parts, it's no bootleg. This is a real copy of MS1, just turned into AES format.
