David Baldwin
can i use the gotek on other computers like my atari ste.
Sinphaltimus
Yes if the firmware supports it. There's other firmware versions like HxC (I imagine on your Amiga ready GoTek you have Cortex installed).

Sinphaltimus
Here's the page for several HxC firmwares. The release notes for each mention the support. http://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_drive_emulator/index.html#stm32hxc

Sinphaltimus
I should mention this. I'm using cortex on my Amiga gotek. I believe=1.05b. Do not change the contents of the usb drive if it will change the contents of assigned slots. It kinda breaks everything. If I were you, I'd make a usb stick image based backup in case you mess something up and need to restore the usb stick to default. This is what you should do, I've tested this and it is safe. Say you want to delete everything on the USB stick and copy all new different adf files. Before you do that, load up selektor and remove all adf files from their slot assignments. Your now safe to delete it and change all adfs without issue except of course the selektor which must always be on the usb. What I think happens is this. Say you have wb3.1 assigned to slot 1 in selektor. You reboot to the slot 1 adf of wb3.1. I believe the slot assignment gets loaded in to ram or rom on the gotek. So if you leave the gotek on slot 1, remove the usb, delete wb3.1 adf, reinsert the usb, it will lock up the gotek. Can't change slot number with push buttons, nothing. Only way back is to put the wb3.1 adf back. Then remove it from the assigned slot in selektor, everything will be ok after that. David Baldwin
what i did was as soon as i got the usb i put all files on it into my ubuntu home folder made a folder gotek backup. as long as these files are new and the databas is new i put them onto a brand new 8 gb usb and you get a fresh start again.
Sinphaltimus
That'll work as long as the stick are formatted fat32 I believe. But yes, always at least back up the files. I have a disk image that I can pull individual files from or just restore it to a USB stick. Can never be too safe.I'll be doing the LCD mod this weekend. Going to document it step by step with photos and some videos if I can. I'll post the link here when done. I'm acutally uploading files now to post about the 1MB chip upgrade I just completed on a rev 5 A500. I have real slow internet so don't hold your breath. But that'll get posted later tonight or tomorrow morning for sure.
