Tempest
I have a launch PS3 Fat that died some time ago (dreaded yellow light of death). However since it plays PS2 games I'd like to get it fixed. Rather than take it to the local sketchy looking shop, I was wondering if there was anyone on AA that fixes them? SiberianSpForces
My PS4 was doing a similar thing to the 3's YLOD. It called for a GPU reflow, but I found an alternative fix on YouTube. I don't know if it could work on a PS3. Below is a guide on a fix to the YLOD. Look at step 27, the PS4 has one of those brackets. The 4's fix is using 2 nylon(or any non metal) washers under each of the shouldered screws, and then tightening until you'd start to get resistance. Then putting back together enough to test it. If that didn't fix it, add another washer under each screw. You could also adjust how tight you retighten the screws too and see what happens. If that fails and a reflow is necessary, find a reputable PC repair place. Don't take it to shady acres repair for that. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Yellow+Light+of+Death+Repair/3654 Here's some more info on the issue; http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-General/Unofficial-Yellow-Light-of-Death-YLOD-Informative-Still-Thread-R/td-p/4048928 Edited September 15, 2016 by SiberianSpForces
Punisher5.0
There are reflow vids on youtube for the PS3 but it's considered temporary.
Tempest
Yeah I got it working for a few hours using the hair dryer fix (to get my data off), but I want something more permanent.
