Oh... this brings back memories!

I remember learning to do character strings for the first time which I used to store the level data. And simple character set flipping in a VBI for the animation. The music was interrupt-driven also and was from a typed-in Page 6 magazine listing. I was quite chuffed with it - I thought it wasn't bad at all for a game written in Basic.

- Phil, the game was written in early 1991 and appeared on the first issue of Excel Disk Magazine (March/April 1991) which can be downloaded from my website.

Wow, seems like a lifetime ago!

As I've said before, the mag is proffesionally done and written by a person who loves the 8 bit rather than people who just do covers of multiple formats so info is not a bit sketchy, its real and factual. What also does it for me is that it gives you a really nice mix of new and old so old farts like me can do the old 'oh I remember this' feeling while also seeing super fresh new stuff.

I prefer the real thing with mags but pdf's are more than good enough...

Genuinely a worthwhile read for any 8bitter...

Robert, I love your reviews! They are very detailed and when you've read them you want to play revisited games immediately.

I wonder how you can manage this amount of "work" in such a short time. Please be careful that you don't get tired of making magazines soon...

Yes, its nice to have a person so in to the Atari doing the reviews, when I wrote for Atari User the one thing I hope I brought to the review was that I really WAS an Atari User and I knew the games and history plus enjoyed actually playing them and not come accross as a would be jounalist just pushing out a requested number of words.

That is what you get from Roberts reviews, personal reviews with a proper Atari Gamer content when its so easy to be dull and generic by nature when reviewing...

So well done that man....I think the people are happy :)

Got my mag (Issue #2) a few days back. I love the content, and I really like the layout. I have several issues with my eyes (pretty bad colour blindness, severe floaters). The mostly black pages really make the colours pop for me, and also make it so I can comfortably read without my floaters visible.
