Not to distract from the Kelly LeBlanc thread but, that 7800 looks like it is on life support.

CPU can answer this better, and I'm NOT an electrical engineer, strictly a hobbyist. But his 7800 appears to have the two following changes done to it:

I can see the LHE mod has been done as that is cleary in the pic.

I see the Maria chip has been taken off and mounted on perfboard with loose wires and pin header connector above it. My guess is this was done so that signals, etc... to the Maria could be more easily monitored directly through the scope on his desk in real time.

though it isn't visible, I've seen his previous videos, and I believe this 7800 also has Eckard's DEV OS installed as well so that code can be dumped and sent directly to the 7800 if you have a ram cart built. I've no doubt CPU has more than a few RAM carts made up used for testing before he created his versa boards and more. There are likely other mods I can't identify, but what this all boils down to...

That 7800 isn't on life support. It is the equivalent of being the BIONIC 7800. It was remade faster and better. That 7800 I suspect is the reason for all the new hardware now current in many of the homebrew carts and is the reason the new PCBs etc exist?

keeping with the vibe, another, currently a disaster area, my bench with a 2600 vader board on it that I am cleaning up and modding ... along with a game gear that's freshly recapped

That is no disaster area. It looks like a cover photo for some electronics magazine.

Nice.
