cjameslv
Start up my 1040stf, load a floppy disk into a: drive, play a few different games and all is good. Start another random game and keyboard acts up and i cant press f1, 1 etc to start a game. Goto my text editor and see keys are generating gibberish. Do a fresh reboot and 50/50 chance all is back to normal and working. I have cleaned the pcb, reseated the controller chip, checked for cracks in pcb and looked over connector to the mainboard so far. I am under the impression i must need a new controller chip but not 100% sure on that. Also when i took apart my system today, (upgraded to TOS 1.4), i noticed a cap (4700uf) that was bulging up on the top some. I plan doing a recap or replacing the ps anyway but could it be that is what is causing the issue as well? I appreciate any input on this. Zogging Hell
You said you were playing games before the problem started; was the autofire on the joystick on by any chance when you booted? That can lock up the keyboard, so always turn it off when you boot (it confuses the hell out of the keyboard controller). Regardless though I would change that cap. cjameslv
Update: Well good news, i decided to painstakingly resolder every point on the keyboard pcb. Once finally finished i put it all back together and it works great with no issues. Also today i flashed my new gotek with the hxc bootloader and installed it and did a ton of game playing testing and not one issue even over more than an hour and endless images gone through! I'm very happy.
