12 hour drive to a friend's house. He lives an hour from the event. Leaving in the early AM Thursday morning.... Like 2am or something. Is there a going to be a nutjob award at this event? I nominate myself.

Heh. I wonder sometimes. ;) - Now I have to try and get my friend to come along so I can do the bar crawl afterwards. Since I will need a "Designated Driver" in order to participate...

I will be releasing fbForth 2.0:10 at the Chicago Faire on Saturday.  It will include the fixes for FRAC , HCHAR and VCHAR discussed in the last several posts of the fbForth development thread.  Bring your cartridges for re-burning or swapping EPROMs FOC.

Congratulations Greg!

Regarding the faire,

It was great to meet numerous Atariage'ers in person. Adding faces and personalities to aliases and avatars and seeing the interests of each of you was great fun.

Also, at the Faire, --edit-- Vorticon, --edit-- Tursi and I got roped into speaking about the FinalGROM99 on the video stream... That was unprepared... and of course, the real details are over here:

Just finished watching the videos on ustream, thanks for recording those and putting them online!  I really enjoyed the presentations, and seeing the kids playing Interceptor and the TI-controlled robot.

Speaking of the ustream... that stuff is short lived? I ripped it all Sunday after I got home. But I never got the name of the guy that was posting/running the AV. I'd love to shove that all back up on youtube, but I'd want to ask first.

Anyone know who that is that I should ask?

Jon and I have been talking for the past couple of years about alternate ways to get the videos out.  Vid.me looks feasible, and I think changes in YouTube over the past (compared to the problems he had at one time) may make it another viable option.  Supposedly he is going to join here soon.

The day after the Faire I made a trip down to Brookfield to the Galloping Ghost Arcade.  We should all check it out next year.  Over 500 arcade games spanning the decades.  My biggest complaint is many of the ones I wanted to play, like Tron and Choplifter, have marginally functional joysticks which make them difficult to play, if at all.  Hopefully they will be fixed next time around.

There are three pinball machines there, only two of which were running.  They have candy and drinks but no food.  There is a Chinese restaurant next door and I recommend staying away from the diner across the street.

Sounds like it would be a great day trip :)
