Atari8bitCarts
Is there anyone out there performing Original XBOX Repair? Thank you.
Nebulon
I can't say I'm actually repairing them, but I've done a bit of surgery on them in the past. What's not working?
Atari8bitCarts
I can't say I'm actually repairing them, but I've done a bit of surgery on them in the past. What's not working? well it won't power on, and I've read a lot about repairs like the capacitors, etc. I just don't seem to have the time to fix it myself
Nebulon
What makes those machines a bit tricky is all the different motherboard revisions. However, the power supply should be pretty much the same deal for all of them. In my case, I removed the problem capacitor (I'm guessing you know the one I mean), and also ended up swapping out the internals of an XBOX because of the dreaded DVD-ROM door opening and closing by itself). Are there any original XBOX machines showing up for cheap at thrift stores in your area? Having a spare will make your life easier (and if you need to move an Xecutor mod from one machine to another, it's fairly painless to do. seniorcelica
there are more than 1 powersupply about 4 depending on you mobo version. i do repair them and the no power problems are a result of bad caps (5 of them) corroded trace on the under side or bad power source. Razzie.P
I was searching for a bit of info with a problem I'm having with 2 different consoles and found this thread. Wasn't sure if it'd be better to start a new one or just bump this. Hope bumping was ok. Anyways.... I have 2 consoles that are having the same problem. One is a newer model (no clock cap) and the other is a Halo Edition (with a clock cap that has been replaced). The problem is odd -- when powering them on, they will "chug" for a few seconds, then start flashing the red light. After a few minutes, I can turn them off an back on, and they'll usually work. After that one successful power on, they'll work properly for the entire play session. But if I stop for a few hours and come back, it's back to step 1 with the red lights. It's almost like it's charging or something and won't power on until it's been charged enough. Any ideas on what could cause this? Thanks in advance! ApoRam
My dvd refuses to be recognized (Error 11 on powerup). I have swapped all the insides with two others and none do this "except when this pcb is attached to them, and when it is ALL DO IT). So the pcb is the trouble and I suspect the bios chip on the controller board is somehow corrupted. So, my question is "Where can I get a hold of a replacement bios chip to solder onto my controller board?" Thanks so much Charles charlesgutman@gmail.com
