RESET BUTTON - An alternative?

Omega-TI

Recommended Posts

I installed my reset button to the left of the "A" using a square button that was roughly the same size as the keyboard keys. It was a slightly lower profile and required more pressure to activate, ensuring no accidental resets.

This kept me from drilling into the metal. I like having a flat surface so that I can place papers and other items on the top of the console, so any buttons or LEDs needed to be elsewhere... ;)

... until I turned it on and off and realized I place my pointer there as leverage for my thumb. So I slid it up the same side, closer to the synth.

Good point. I'm still waiting on parts, so I still have time to mull things over.

I'd love to see a picture of that Tim. In fact I'd love to see photos of EVERYONES reset button solution.

This particular console must be packed away as I didn't see it among my other equipment. As I recall, the button is similar to this one:

There are other varieties out there with vertical plastic guards on 2 or more sides of the button, to minimize accidental presses. This one is illuminated.

This is the correct method (but I myself would add a small resistor though, like 10 .. 100 ohm)

Your range of 10 - 100Ω was a little vague, so I split the difference (almost) and picked up a pack of 68Ω

Now, while I await parts for my HDMI project, I better decide which button to purchase.

I'm really dragging this project out much longer than it needs to be.

I can't believe I'm having a hard time deciding on something as simple as a freaking reset switch, especially since this is just a small side job in my larger HDMI project.

<< THIS >> is my current favorite. Why?

1) It has silver, which will somewhat match the TI.

2) It's RED, the perfect RESET color.

3) It's small.

4) Ultra simple to mount, just drill a small hole and screw it in.

What do you guys think? Any potential cons? Considering what I'm dropping into main project everything has to be perfect.

Looks good, just make sure It doesn't extend to far into the system and touch something that will cause a short, or endless reset cycles ;)
