Apple IIGS Toolbox Reference

Recommended Posts

The Apple IIGS has 3 volumes for the Toolbox, Volumes 1,2 and 3.

Does anyone know if they are online?

Or failing that, is there a list of toolsets for the toolbox documented

somewhere?

The Toolbox volumes are still being sold so I don't believe any scanned copies are out in the wild.

However, you might find what you are after in this collection of Apple IIgs documentation:

http://apple2.gs/library.php

You may need to do a bit of sifting, but there is a wealth of information in these (scanned) books.

Hope this helps,

Mike

Thanks for the link.

The website only contains Volume 3 of the Toolbox reference.

It does not contain a list of graphic tools which is what I was

looking for. I guess they must be listed in Volume 1 or 2.

The other books are quite good but again do not contain

which I am looking for.

I heard that in the early 90's Apple produced CD's called

Apple Developer CD series. The early one's contain

Apple II/IIGS software, documents etc. I do not know

if these are archived somewhere as it would be most

interesting to see. The first releases contained software,

documents etc for the Apple II/IIGS and then it dropped

the II series and went to just for the Machintosh.

It sounds like you are after info on the QuickDraw II Toolset and/or the Window Toolset. I am surprised that you couldn't find any info on these in those books that I linked to.

I have some sample IIgs graphics source code on my website (using Complete Pascal) if that is of any help:

http://apple2.sytes.net/

As for Apple's Devloper CD's, there is at least one on archive.org (the ISO of Discy Business):

https://archive.org/details/AppleDeveloperCDSeriesVolumeIVDiscyBusiness

Hope that helps,

Mike

I just went to yourwebsite and you

have a set of the Toolbox Reference Volumes 1,2 & 3.

Can you scan these as PDF's send/put them

on line?

As the Toolbox References are still for sale, I cannot do that sorry. I do not wish to get myself embroiled in any legal matters. :-o

Besides which, they are quite hefty tomes and I do not have the time for such endeavours; nor do I wish to weaken the already fragile binding on my copies.

I wish these books were in the public domain, but until such time as they are...

Cheers,

Mike

Update ****

Someone has been nice enough to scan Toolbox Reference Volumes 1&2

and put them online as PDF's. They are on ASIMOV.

Now the complete set is available, Volumes 1-3.

Here is the link if anyone else would like to access them.
