Games YOU want to see for the 5200

This might be a stretch, both as far as both legal (Disney) and controllability issues are concerned but I have always wanted to see a 5200/8-bit port of TRON (the arcade game not the Intellivision Deadly Discs game, although that also, would be great to play on the 5200).

I really, REALLY want to do a port of Deadly Discs to the 5200. I've been thinking about it for years now, but I just can't work out some of the technical details regarding the graphics. Maybe after a couple more original 5200 games a solution will pop into my head.

Oh, and it would totally support the joystick coupler for dual-stick play.

This would be awesome! You can already consider one sold, if/when this ever happens. No pressure. :)

The funny thing about Deadly Discs is that on the surface, it seems tailor made for the 5200 hardware. Your have four onscreen characters, each with a small weapon. This is exactly how the 5200 works, four players, four missiles.

The problem is the colors. On the Intellivision, the enemies came in different colors and had different properties, plus their discs were different colors with different properties. Getting all those color combinations to work on the 5200 is what's stumping me, since each player shares their color with their associated missile. In all other respects, the game should be fairly easy to do.

Maybe I could come up with some other way to show the different enemy and disc types, like different shapes or something.

Anyway, the idea has been on my back burner for a long time. I'm glad to see there's interest in it.

Yars' Revenge (this 2600 classic just SCREAMS to be ported to the 5200)

Marble Madness (for use with the trak-ball)

Fast Food

......and some vector classics that would look great in raster versions.....

Major Havoc (has anyone ever thought of it?)

Star Castle (like the souped-up 2600 version)

Space Duel (has anyone ever thought of this one?)

Black Widow (would be ideal for use with the controller holder)

Gravitar (especially since it's already available for the 2600)

and

Quantum (another awesome, but yet very underrated trak-ball-controlled classic.)

After what Keithen Hayenga did with Tempest, these would be just as awesome, indeed vector-to-raster conversions are definitely HOT!!!

Agreed on the Yar's Revenge.

And I'd love to see Air Sea Battle for nostalgia's sake.

Tricked out, extra options, snazzier ships.

I'd think there would be a place to target what so many wished the 5200 would be -- your old games from 2600, twice as cool.

Be fun to see an updated Raiders, huh?

That's how I feel. Ms Pac-Man on 2600 was great, but 5200 Ms Pac was a whole new experience. Same with Vanguard, Defender, and so on. But for the non-arcade games like Yars, the only thing we got were some 3rd party ones like Activision games - they played the same but had improved visuals and sounds, and to me that was good enough. River Raid had significant upgrades with the jagged riverside and tanks on the bridges, and shooting copters and balloons. Hero had better visuals. Megamania had greatly improved visuals.

Already been done for the A8s, shouldn't be too much of a leap.

Star Castle (like the souped-up 2600 version)

Also, a decent A8 clone's been done. Should be fairly easy to convert to 5200.

A8 Yars is only 2K???

Jars' Revenge on the C64 looks better... It is 16K...

RS Baseball is one of the coolest BB games ever. I liked the look of RS Football but it was just darn hard to stop certain plays! A new football or an improved version of the current RS football. Add basic stats at the end of the game too.
