ataridave
Lately, I've been hearing that the Atari Jaguar CD is not a very durable unit. So what typically goes wrong with these? Is it bad capacitors, or problems with the laser reading discs, or something else?
Umberto
I have owned 3 jag cd's one since they came out. One was stolen, but the other 2 work just fine. Any electronic devise after 20 years will have failures. That being said a recap wont hurt and swapping the transport is easy. Usually that is all that goes wrong
+save2600
Edge connector going to the Jaguar console AND the other side internally into the CD unit are to blame often for the question mark symbol upon startup. Usually just a good tear down, cleaning and re-seating takes care of it TFN. Don't let electronics like this sit for very long, especially in sketchy environments. Garages, basements, attics or near the ocean.
ApolloBoy
The Jag CD itself is a hardware problem.
