reklen
I turn on the supercharger, follow the instructions, but nothing happens. The screen says rewind and play the tape, which I do, it makes the loading sound, then nothing, the tape just stops after about one minute. Do I have a bad game, or is it the charger? I've tried on different 2600s and on the 7800. Any help would be appreciated.
Turbo-Torch
You need to give more info... Is the screen filling in with color as it's loading? Have you tried different game cassettes? A different tape recorder? Volume settings? Side B of the cassette which is a slower baud rate? Galactus
Try a different cassette player. I had the same problem just last week. I bought a new RCA cassette player specifically to use with it, but it doesn't work. When I use my old Walkman it works fine.
Galactus
Oh, but also if you only have 1 game it could very well be a problem with the game. I was having problems with all of them. Good luck!
Keatah
Could be as simple as making sure the headphone jack/plug is clean. And everything set to the right volume.
reklen
Well, I've tried two different recorders, one from the eighties and one that is pretty new. I only have one game tape, Suicide Mission. The colors do change when it says rewind tape and play tape. I wasn't aware about the volume, What should I set the volume to? Keatah
Dunno, mid-range sounds as good as any. Then go up a little, and down a little, if it still fails. Scales of 1-10, try 4 through 7.
reklen
Well, I got it to work on the second side of my old tape/player radio from 1985. Wouldn't work on the first side, or on my newer tape player. Of course I changed the volume to mid range, and turned the tone down(I have no idea if that did anything.) Disappointed that Suicide Mission is just Asteroids, but ecstatic the the Supercharger works. Its only the second I've ever seen, and the irony is, I just bought the game earlier in the day at a gamestore, basically because the box and Tape were immaculate. Had no idea I would ever find a charger, let alone an hour later in another game store. Thanks again everyone.
alex_79
You can use the "makewav" utility to convert the supercharger roms into remastered audio files. Those can be played from the computer, converted to mp3, burned to an audio CD or recorded on tape. You can set different speed depending on the media you want to use (better use lower speed for tapes). The "Playbin" utility is similar, but it only "plays" the roms through the PC soundcard without generating an audio file.http://atariage.com/forums/topic/247849-supercharger-and-wplaybin/?do=findComment&comment=3414680Since the supercharger is mono, it would be better using an adapter with stereo equipment. When you connect the supercharger mono plug into the device (PC soundcart, CD or mp3 player, stereo cassette player) stereo socket, in fact, the right channel gets shorted to ground. Most devices should be designed to handle that situation just fine, but a few are not and that short can stress the electronics causing damages after some time.
