bradhig1
Got these at Vintage Stock. The Decathlon label is purple rather the blue. Is that common? California Games keeps dying on me. I play it and the screen goes black or green with a yellow stripe. I cleaned the contacts and still the same problem.
StanJr
The purple/blue thing may just be due to age/light exposure. California Games is ridiculously fun! Enjoy!
Harrison
Is that Space Shuttle? I want to get that one eventually. I like how Activision used all the switches on the console in gameplay. Haven't played it yet so I don't know how well it worked, but I like how they thought outside the box.
Cambouis de l'Atari
Space Shuttle is really a great sim ! If you dare to read french (or google translate it) I wrote an article about it some years ago : https://cambouisdelatari.wordpress.com/2014/04/26/space-shuttle-dactivition

Never could dock with the Skylab more then once.
Cambouis de l'Atari
Never played the c64 version (I should !). Do you know wether the "specs" (angles or speeds for reentry for example) are the same as the vcs ones ? I suppose so, as they are meant to be "real", but who knows Edited December 8, 2016 by Cambouis de l'Atari
+FujiSkunk
Caifornia Games uses an Activision shell, and maybe an Activision-esque PCB. Those are especially notorious for going flaky due to dirty contacts. Give the contacts a good scrub with rubbing alcohol and/or a Magic Eraser, and that should help keep the game alive. bradhig1
The space station you dock with was clearly modeled after Skylab. Skylab re entered the atmosphere on July 11,1979 with some debris landing in Western Australia.
Foxsolo2000
Never played the c64 version (I should !). Do you know wether the "specs" (angles or speeds for reentry for example) are the same as the vcs ones ? I suppose so, as they are meant to be "real", but who knows I played the Atari 800XL version on tape and it was a real handful even with the keyboard to operate it. Although I owned the 2600 version I lacked the overlay so did not have a clue as to what the Hell I was doing
+sramirez2008
Here's what the overlays look like: http://www.atariage.com/overlay_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=
Jinks
Wow does that every look like alot of work to play that game.. Has to be the most dust collected cart of all time. I read the instructions and concluded to never play it and leave it in the bin. At age 39 not sure if I could follow all those tiny details to have "fun"
+sramirez2008
I really like it. But this is the type of game that you plan your day around, especially the first time you play it.
bradhig1
California Games works fine in one of my 4 switchers but it never works right on my heavy sixer why would it have problems with the game?

bradhig1
I tried California Games on my Harmony Cart and it worked fine. Must be a bad cart. I remember Christopher Glen on one episode of In The News one saturday morning shouting "The Skylab is falling The Skylab is falling!!"
