I think it's mostly because he does a lot of video game segments on his show that are well received and lots of eyeballs see him do it. The Goldeneye segment comes to mind. I think it's head and shoulders above the ramp up to the Wii U, which I don't even recall really happening outside of some very strange commercials. I figured the iOS game, Pokemon Go and NES classic as well as the nostalgia angle on the new Pokemon game/s were largely to push Nintendo relevance without pushing very large purchases. Of course, the NES Classic's reselling sorta botched that.

 

Fallon has a pandering feel and I'm never sure if he's either drunk, earnestly THAT excited, or it's pure acting but the game segments he does are usually pretty entertaining if I just relax and watch. I really just catch the YouTube snippets, though.

I want a switch, but seeing that same old nintendo-guy push it really turns me off of the idea. I only made it to the 0:18 mark.

I just watched this. If you pause at exactly 1 minute and 39 or 40 seconds. That not an NES. Looks like a retron or something. Is that a retron 5?
