No New Content

I see it from time to time too. Also seems to be a glitch where "no new content" shows when new members have joined. In other words, instead of new content, you get a list of new members. Hit 'View New Content' again or refresh, then the new topics will appear afterwards. This glitch (or accidental non-correlated feature) has been going on for years now.

The "View New Content" is context-sensitive, depending where you are in the site. If you're in the Messenger or viewing a member profile and you hit "View New Content", it'll show a list of members. This is very likely why you are seeing "View New Content" displaying members. The search is the same way -- if you're in the Messenger or viewing a member profile and you do a search, it will search members instead of the forums. Not a very good design, to be sure. Now that you know that, hopefully this will be helpful information.

This just started this morning. When I choose View New Content, I just get a message that says 'Sorry, no new content found.' Happens regardless of other settings and on both my XP and Linux machines.

Not sure what would cause this, nothing on the forum has changed. I would try erasing any "atariage.com" cookies in your browser(s), though, to see if that makes a difference. Beyond that, I would need to investigate to see if that's an issue that's been reported on the Invision support forum.

When I see this error, is always when I'm starting afresh... which is why I think it's new member related. After hitting New Content, I'll first see a list of new members, then after refreshing, brings me to what I was after in the first place... New Content.

Next time it happens, please take a snapshot of the page with the "New Content" results, then go back a page and take a screenshot before you clicked on "View New Content". Then send them to me.

Thanks!

Deleting the cookie restored the new content, but as soon as I log in it's gone again. If I then log back out, I can once again see new content. Log in again and it disappears.

No, that is not normal.

I see what you mean now by exiting Messenger and going straight to View New Content. :dunce:

Just a minute ago, I did that and saw 3 new members listed. Then I clicked around to other topics, clicked on Messenger, clicked on View New Content - then got the 'sorry, no new content found' message. I'm getting this consistently now, after going from Messenger to View New Content. Have to hit View New Content again in order to see what's new.

...same when you're going from Community Status Updates or when viewing your profile... takes you to Members (new users) first when you hit View New Content. Thought these were glitches all this time, but as you said, are context related.
